Question: How the internet work?

When you send a e-mail message from your computer a complex chain of events begins. First the message is sent to your modem. Your modem dials up your Internet Service Provider. The message is then sent to the Service Provider via a standard phone line. The internet is made up of a large number of connected servers around the world. Your message is sent from server to server. Until it reaches that of your recipient. The message is stored on this server until the recipient dials up to check their mail. The recipients modem coverts the message back to a digital format that can be read by the computer.

Finally, the recipient is informed they have been sent mail. The request is sent via a standard phone line. It is passed from server to server on the internet until it reaches the one, which stores the site you wish to see. It is sent back to you modem via a phone line.

Finally, the content of the Web site is displayed on your screen.
