Hey guys! It is Aaron again. I am back. This is the second part of the Banana Pancakes, Jack Johnson song.
The first part I taught you guys is the intro riff and what he plays -- I believe what he plays only the 1st, 2nd and 4th verses. This lesson is going to cover the chorus and the 3rd verse. So, here I go again. The chorus, the riff is the same, I believe -- like from the videos, you guys after he noted something is wrong, that is not corrected in the info box or something so everyone else can learn about it..
The chorus, you are going to play the same riff that you played at the beginning, the second riff. So, you are going to go,
[Demo]
And then you play the start, at the beginning where he just plays one time.
[Demo]
So, if you do not know how, the chords are basically -- check out the first video if you want to learn that little riff, that part because that is on the first video. But what I want to tell you is at the chorus, you play the riff where you go five to 7 and 5th on the A. 7 on the E, 5, 3, 0, 3. Then you put your ring finger on the 2nd string down the 5th fret and middle finger the 4th string down, 4th fret.
[Demo]
You play that 3, 1, 2, 1, 2. Then the second one is just 5 to 7, 5 on A, 7, 5, 3, 0. 3 to 5 then --
[Demo]
Just like in the intro. And then the third part of the chorus is --
[Demo]
The same as the first part of the chorus. Then verse three is really the part that gave me the most problems. Where it says, -- I am just going to kind of walk you through it in sets of four for the most part. But the first line where it says, “Mmm, Mmm Can't you see, can't you see.” You just set a bar across the 5th fret, ring finger on the 7th.
[Demo]
And when it says, “rain all day, I do not mind,” slide down the bar across the 3rd fret. Stick your ring finger on the 4th string down, your G string on the 4th fret and your ring finger goes on the 2nd down your A string on the 8th fret.
[Demo]
“Rain all day and I don’t mind.” And then, “But the telephone is singing, ringing. It's too early, don't pick it up,” fall back at the fifth fret and seventh.
[Demo]
Something I noticed about that too is if you leave that ring finger here on the 2nd string down it is kind of a common finger. So,
[Demo]
And then the 4th one, you go to actually get that bar on the 5th and you turn this into like a mini bar and you cover the D, G and B strings on the 7th fret.
[Demo]
Then back to the bar across the 5th just that ring finger on the 2nd string on the 7th fret.
[Demo]
That is the line, “we got everything we need right here and everything we need is enough.”
Then it goes back to -- there is like a couple of beats in it and it is “just so easy” but that whole line is this.
[Demo]
“Just so easy” and then he switches back down to this bar on the 2nd fret. But this time when you go down, you are going to bar across the 2nd fret. Stick your middle finger on the B string, 3rd fret. And then your ring and pinky is going to go on 4th fret. Ring and pinky on the 4th fret of your third or 4th strings down, your D and G.
[Demo]
You play that three times.
[Demo]
And slide that bar up to the 7th fret. So, “when the whole world fits inside of your arms, we don’t really need to pay attention to the alarm.” And there when it says, “Wake up slow,” you go back to the bar across the 3rd fret and this ring finger, 5th fret, 2nd string down. And middle finger, 4th string down, your G string on the 4th fret.
[Demo]
That is “wake up slowly,” he plays it twice. So, “wake up slow” then he slides up. So, it is only two measures like one, two, one, two. Slide to the 5th fret and make that mini bar where you have 7, 7, 7. Then slide that to two then back into these and you play that three times.
And then verse four is the same as the first two verses and I have covered that on the first video then to finish it up, you just play this. You play this bar across the 5th, 7th. There are four verses, four B then he slides down to the 3rd and does this bar.
[Demo]
Four more up here. Then he slide down and finish this with this.
