To D plus F#, Em, A. And you do that 1, 2, 3, 4 times. After the fourth one, you are going to switch to the bar chords.
In the bar chords which you turn the chords. The Ab is a barre chord and you got to do is you come up to the -- well, listen to this, relative to this capo, the first one is an F. It is not really but we are going to look at it. These chords are relative to the capo. So, the three bar chords you are going to use are all starting from the 5th fret up from the capo. It is at the 8th fret overall. Bar across all the strings there. Stick your ring finger and pinky on the 2nd and 3rd strings down on two frets above your bar. So, on the 10th fret overall and 7th fret relative to the capo. Then you want to put your middle finger down in between on the 4th string down on the 9th fret. Overall in the, I guess, 6th relative to the capo.
And this is the bar chord. This is the A bar chord.
[Demo]
That is your A bar chord. You slide everything at one fret, that is your Ab. Everything at one more is your G. So, what it does actually in the chorus is the D starts with the same. “We’re always better when we are together.” That right here, it is like --
[Demo]
Then slide up two frets “Well, it's always better when we're together” and you use that Ab once.
[Demo]
So, like just that. I want to go ahead and play the song considering that is the same thing the whole way through. We are going to hear words like “I believe in memories. They look, they go. So pretty when I sleep. Hey now” and all that is, is back and forth between G and A. So, that is just the bar chords. So, there is bar chords on the 3rd fret above the capo.
[Demo]
Whatever picking pattern or strumming pattern you want to use. That is your preference. So, I am going to start this song and kind of play through the intro, the first verse and the chorus hopefully. So, I am going to skip the intro.
[Demo]
Alright.
[Demo]
It is for the record that the strumming pattern that I just did right there and I guess this is right. So, you are going to figure out your own strumming pattern. I did not really do a whole lot of work on the chorus there. So, the words are “It’s always better when we’re together. Yeah we'll look at the stars and we're together” that part. But the pre-chorus you use are the bar chord which you have on the 5th fret up from the capo which is your A and then Ab is in the 4th and your G.
[Demo]
You really go from A to G. And that Ab is just like and there for short run of time. You can hear that if you will listen. If you do not like the Ab, then do not play it. Just strum the A.
[Demo]
To G.
[Demo]
So, you may leave the Ab out if you want. It makes a little bit easier.
So, hope that helps and the tabs are out here and good luck.
