Hi guys! What is up? I got a song I want to teach. It is called Better as a Memory by Kenny Chesney. Just, I did not get a request for this. This is just a song and I think I really enjoy I think.
Into the song we are talking, there I would make a D, put out your little finger. So—one, two, three—four string down, pointer finger 2nd fret. On the fifth string down, this is your B string, second one from the bottom, ring finger is on the 3rd fret. And what you are going to do is you are going to play the same picking pattern. The song sounds like this. Okay.
So this whole part here that is exactly the same each time, the only thing you really do not want to change in that first note which is your base note. So it is like D is the first time. And you walk it down three, two and then through the—something like that. It do not matter. I just play three, two open.
Alright! So to get into this, you got your pointer finger on the 2nd fret, four string down; ring finger three string down your B string, 3rd fret, you are going to play the D string open. Then you are going to play it down. So we will just number these and make this easier; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, alright. It is just how I do. I know it is not the correct way.
Alright, so starting to play in the D string with your third, yes, third you are going to go 3, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 6, 5, 4; so 3, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 6, 5, 4, 6, 5, 4. Then you are going to take your pinky up here and put over 4th fret of the A string. So A string put your 2nd string down 4th fret and put that pinky up there and then 4, 5, 6, 4, 5, 6, 4, 5, 6, 4, 5, so. Bend this middle finger; I just like to leave these two fingers here and stretch this middle kind of up and over on the 2nd fret of the A string. And then I play like that. So that is the intro.
For the verse, you can do the verse. The verse is same as the beginning part. Except it goes like to a G format. It goes like, I do not know. Something like that. So actually, you know what? Just forget it. Just play the intro. If you want to play the verse, play the intro except do not do this whole—just do something in G like—yes, just do that. Just go with your G chord, four finger G. Go 1, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 5, 4, 3, 6, 5, 4. Try it out and that should sound that, yes.
So now that I got the intro and that kind of verse, I am also kind of just start the song and strum through with the chords and tell you as I get through just so if what you are looking for is how to strum along, that will be get for you, too.
So, here we start. Starts out on D, move on like a D, A, Bm, G, D, A, Bm, G, Bm, A, G, D. So D, A, Bm, G, D, A, Bm, G, Bm, A, G, A, D. Then bridge G, D, A, D, G, Bm, A, G, D. D, A, Bm, G, D, A, Bm, G, Bm, A, G, A, Bm, G, A, D. So, that is basically that.
