Hey guys, it is Aaron. This is a request for the song “Blowing in the Wind” I think Bob Dylan wrote it originally, Joan Baez recorded it. If you have seen Forrest Gump, it a song that Jenny sings and she sitting on the stage—Forrest flips out and beats some guy up.
Just from the movie clip, I think she plays with the capo on the 4th fret, but I am going to play with the capo on 3rd fret because I think it sounds better with the version that Joan Baez sings. So what I am going to do is, kind of walk you through really quick through the chords and then try to play the song and strum along with it.
It was written by Bob Dylan. This version that I am going to play in a minute was performed at the Woodstock in 1969, and the verse goes like this, it goes G to C to G to Em. The second line is G to C to D and then G third line G to C, G to Em just like the first line and then the 4th line is just like the 2nd G, C, D. The 5th and 6th line are just like the 1st and 2nd, so basically the whole verse goes G, to C, to G, to Em then G, C, D and then starts over.
The chorus goes C and D and the 3rd line there is G/F, so all that really is, is kind of like this, where it is the G chord but this note down here is F#, which is kind of odd. You can really, I guess just play a G if you want to, but if you want to be accurate, G/F# is your middle finger 3rd fret, low E, A string, pointer finger on your 2nd then I just stick my ring back up under here on the 2nd fret. You can also do it middle finger 2nd fret of the high E, and then like this. It is really up to you, but you can play G if you are having trouble, to an Em, then C, D, G. Then the two verses repeat “the answer my friend, is blowing the wind,” is the same thing as C to D to G/F#, Em, C, D, and G.
Another verse and then another chorus, at the very ending, the chorus plays once just like the middle when the plays begin, C, D, G/F#, E, C, D, and it plays C, and has a quick change at the ending, it goes.

So, do not be confused or stressed out if I am kind of going through this real quick because the tab is going to be over here, you can click on that tab, pull it up and if you do not know what these chords are, you are having trouble, slide your cursor over them and it will actually bring a picture up
So, remember if you see E, A, G, G, B, E and picture from bottom to top, that corresponds to E, A, B, G, B, E. So if you have an X on the 2nd fret of the A and 2nd fret of the D, the second set of lines, that means 2nd fret to your Em.
We are going to start this song, and I am going to strum along with it. Hopefully, the capo is on right place, you can move it up or down, depending on your voice.
[Music Overlapping]
That is that.
All right, I am going to see if I can not skip to the end and so you can hear that quick change ending, here it is.
[Music Playing]
I am not using any special strum pattern; I am just playing it as I go along. Hopefully you guys can figure that out, if someone out there has better ear than me and you can tell which version that is where the capo should be. Let me know so we can change it, but it also depends on your voice, and Bob Dylan played it once on a 7th fret.
[Demo]
And then Bob played it on 7th, the one tab at 2nd, maybe on 3rd, and it was on 4th in the Forrest Gump video, so I do not really know, but I hope that helps and thanks for the request, see you guys
