So, guys. This next one is another request. This is by a band called Yellowcard and the song is Cigarette. It is a band I heard before, I really like them but I will try to give you a little lesson on how to play it.
It is in drop D tuning. So, standard tuning. And we are going to drop this down to the D note. So, it sounds like the other. --.
Alright, so the first tune in the intro is going to sound like this.
[Demo]
Alright, throughout this whole thing for the most part, just try to hit the -- try not to strum at the bottom strings. You might want to skip back so I can see better, I hope that is not too far away.
But what you are going to do is for the first part of the strumming, you will get this real quick just like you know. So, what you are going to do is take your pointer finger and put them on the 7th fret on the 1, 2, 3, and the 4th string opens up. So, it takes your G string.
Put your pointer finger on the 7th fret there and then you are going to play --
[Demo]
That is just down, down, up, down, up. Solo playing. What I am going to do is --
[Demo]
I am playing down, down, up, down, up. Down, down, up, down, up. Down, down, up, down, up. Every time. So, down, down, up, down, up. Switch. Down, down, up, down, up. Switch. Down, down, up, down, up. Switch. Down, down, up, down, up.
Okay. So, put your pointer finger, 4th string at the top, 7th fret. You are going to play that down, down, up, down, up. Then slide your pointer finger down on the 6th fret and take your ring finger. Stick it on the 7th fret and then slowly, just like your D string on top.
[Demo]
So then, you got your ring finger on the 7th fret. These two strings open pointer finger on the 6th fret or 4th string down. When you are set that way, you are going to play that. Then we are going to slide up. Slide your pointer down on the same string. Leave on the same strings. Slide your pointer from the 6th up to the 7th and slide your ring finger to the 9th.
[Demo]
Then from there, you can slide everything all the way down to your pointer finger from the 2nd fret and your ring finger on 4th fret. Then they are still set on the same strings.
[Demo]
After that, what you are actually going to do is take -- you are going to slide the same finger on the same string. Slide your pointer finger to the 4th fret. Your ring goes to this. Then slide your pointer finger back down in two. Take your ring finger and place it on the 3rd string down, your D string on the 4th fret. And after that, you are going to raise your middle finger or your ring finger and you want to put one of those two fingers on the 5th string down, your B string, on the 3rd fret.
And you will leave your pointer finger on that 2nd fret, the 4th string down, your G string. So, that is going to sound, I will play it real slow. It is going to go --
[Demo]
And then last, the last one, we are going to have pointer finger, 4th string down, 2nd fret and middle finger or ring finger. It is going to be for the B string, 5th string up at the top, on the 3rd fret. That is kind of two beats. It sounds sort of down, down, up, down, up. All the way, it is down, down, up, down, up. Down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up.
[Demo]
That is the first part. The second part of that just goes back up like you are starting over. Pointer finger on the 7th fret you go --
[Demo]
Down like before to the pointer finger on the 6th, ring finger on the 7th up to 7th and 9th.
[Demo]
With that here you want to keep that pointer finger on the 4th string down. So, let that key slide with it. Slide that to the 11th. Take your middle finger through on the 8th string, 2nd string down on the 12th fret and your ring finger on the 12th fret of the 3rd string down through the D string. You are going to strum that down, down, up, down, up. Then hop up real quick. This part is tough for this song. Bar across the 7th fret, stick your middle finger on the 4th string down then put that 7, 7, 7, 9. You go --
[Demo]
Down, down, up, down, up. Bring back up to the thing all the way down, pointer finger on the 11th
