What's up guys? It is Aaron. This is another request. This song is called “Collide” by Howie Day. This song is really pretty easy. The whole song is 4 chords with the exception of the bridge which is not really difficult but it is kind of a little riff and that is bring some.
So, the guitar is on standard tuning. If anybody who watch this thinks that my instruction is wrong, I actually got this from follow-up free videos where it actually showed in playing it live. So, this is exactly how he plays it.
He plays capo on the 3rd fret and the 4 chords he plays are G, in the G you take your ring finger, put it on this low E, the tip string, 3rd fret, the string below that, the 2nd string down, take your pointer finger and put it on the 2nd fret, skip the middle two and then on the bottom 2, your B string, your ring finger at the 3rd fret and your pinky goes 3rd fret. So you have, 3, 2, open, open, 3, 3. That is the first chord.
It is basically is some of the live versions, you do not hear as much but in the album he plays this bass note, strums a couple of times. Then a lot of you will think this is the next chord, it actually goes to a D, substitute I believe. So you make a D and you cover this string here on the 2nd fret with your thumb, you do not have to pull it very hard at all. So, you go from your G,
[Demonstration]
To that D substitute.
So basically you are going to have your thumb, actually, just do your D first, the 4 string down, put your pinky on the 2nd string, 5ht string down, I am sorry, pointer finger on the 2nd fret of your 4th string down.
Your 5th string down is your ring finger from the 3rd fret and then the high E, the lowest string, put your middle finger on the 2nd fret. That is your D chord. And you pick your thumb, and put it right here. So, you are strum playing the 2nd fret. So, basically the 1st two are like this.
[Demonstration]
And then the next chord it goes to an Em7. you can play this, it is just Em, or is an Em7, I got played. I just play that kind of a high note there. So, what you are going to do from the Em, the 3rd chord, you are going to have the top string open.
The next string down, pointer finger on the 2nd fret, 3rd string down you are going to have your middle finger, the 2nd fret, 4th string is open, and then you can either play this bottom two open, I like to do it just personal preference. And I put my ring finger on the 5th string down, 3rd fret and your high E string, my pinky finger on the 3rd fret.
So that chord sounds like this, and then the last chord you go to is the Cadd9, and all that is the G but you move this two fingers down. So at Cadd9, you are going to have this string open, this one is going to have the next string down the 2nd string down, you are going to have your middle finger on the 3rd fret.
Third string down, pointer finger, your 2nd fret, the 4 string down has got to be open. This string down ring finger, 3rd fret, and high E string, your very bottom string, it is going to be your pinky finger, the 3rd fret. So that come together which is basically the whole verse and chords and everything is this.
[Demonstration]
And at the very end of that last of the Cadd9, here is the thing, you can get the timing right about by listening to it. But, just at the very end, it sounds like I play it, it sounds like what you are doing, it is at the Cadd9, you are strumming, taking your pointer finger and hammer it on. Like that. So, you play open together.
[Demonstration]
You can play it. I think he just plays it once. I mean, this goes [Demonstration]. I play it twice when I am strumming.
[Demonstration]
Something like that. Then the bridge is the kind of a tricky part. I might add this part a little wrong because I just did this by sound. So, if any of those who are watching this knows a better way of this, let me know, or make it a comment so I can see it.
What you do on this is you start out your G formation and what you are going to do is you are going to go up from that, if you want to strum that, it is G to your Cadd9, to Em7, first time. And on the second
