All right guys, what is up? This is Darren. This next video that I am going to do is one of my favorite songs to play. It is “Comfortable” by John Mayer. The kapo is on the third fret. Otherwise, it is in the standard tuning. So, you can play without the kapo if you wanted. It sounds like this like this with a little entry. You can play without it but it will sound like this. But let me tell you how to play it. Put your kapo on the third fret. If you do not have a kapo, you can take a pencil. Actually, one of the subscribers sent me a message and showed me you could put a pencil with rubber bands on the side and tighten it up and it actually turns into a kapo but either way.
The tab for this is the one that I put in the info box. It is kind of a complicated tab throughout the whole song. It has two parts. It is how you play it on the album and how you play it live. I really am just going to give you the intro. I will play the intro a little bit different than how they do it. Never mind, I am going to make my own tab through this. So hopefully, it will be over here. If you are a beginner, you could probably still pull this off or take a lot of practice so you will not know that before you get into it.
All right, a lot of this whole rift is played in D chord. So we want to start out with your pointer finger on the G string second fret. Your ring finger, third fret of your B string and your middle fingers getting all the second fret. But at first, you are going to leave it off. So it is just going to be these two strings. You are going to strum down this bottom four strings which is what you are supposed to play with the D chord. Strum down to the bottom four and then you are hammering on to the second fret with this middle finger. It should sound like this. So you are going to play that. You are going to play the D string and the G string. So bottom four strings, hammer on high E then B, G, and then you have your middle finger on the second fret before you hammer it on. So you are going to play the high E and pull off, all that is this.
Pull off so you will get that note and then you are going to play the B string which is your ring finger on the third fret. So bottom four strings, hammer on two middle. And you are going to play the D, G then play the high E. Pull off then you are going to play the B string which is here on the third fret. So it goes like this. Then you are going to come up here. After that last note here, you are going to take your pointer finger off and you are going to move it up here to the first fret of your A string. You are going to strum this four to five strings. Once you have strummed that, pointer finger comes off so you get back down here and you are ready to go back right into that D but on this D right here.
Once you play this, you come down and you are going to play all on the high E string. It is like middle finger on the second, the pinky finger on the third fret so three and then back down to second fret. Here you go. Then your pointer finger is going to go back over here to the second fret of your A string. You are going to play the A string. Then you are going to play the G string which is open and you are going to play the bottom of these two strings. You are going to play the B and E string where your middle finger is going to be on the second fret of your pinky and your ring finger is going to be on the third fret of your B. So you are going to play one, two, and on the third one, you are going to pull your middle finger off. These strings will go just like this.
You play that together with this B string after then you are going to play third fret and that B again. This time, it will get a little bit complicated here. It is not that complicated really. It is just that once you practice and slow it down, you will be all right. So up to this point, you are playing this. The next thing you are going to do is after this, you are going to lift your ring finger up, put your pointer finger on the first fret of your B string and your middle finger is going to come down here on the second fret of y
