Hey guys! What is up? It is Darren. This song I am going to teach now is called Emily. This is another request. There is actually two guitar parts. So we start it on guitar one. This is the guitar one part. Let us do it first.
You can play it in both guitars in a standard tuning. I like to play it this way because whenever you are strumming like this, I just like that. It blends in better than what the open E sounds like so I am playing drop D. You can play in standard tuning if you want. It really will not matter. It will not change so take your pick.
The intro, you want to take your pointer finger and put it on the 3rd fret here on the second string, A string. And then, you want to take your middle finger or pinky finger or whichever you want and put it on the 5th fret of your 3rd string down your G string. You can play the A string twice. You are going to go A, A, D, A and then you are going to play these two strings open and you are going to play the B and then up to the G. So the 5th to 4th that is in your B. So you are going to play the A string twice D string, A, then the B to G. Keep your finger in the same string, slide them up to where your pointer finger is to the 7th to your ring finger to the 9th and play the same thing. And then you slide down from 7th to 9th to your pointer finger to the 5th, and the ring on the 7th. You are going to slide back to the 3rd and do that again. You get your little ring out a little bit up to 7th, five and then the ring. So, that is the way you play the intro until the verse on the guitar one. When you get to the verse, you keep your finger in the same strings and really just strum. You can try the strumming pattern but I just play kind of like you pick it similar to that tune like the intro picking. So, I play like this. That is kind of the guitar one verse. You repeat this whole intro until the verse. Repeat that to the verse.
Then, the chorus – both guitars do this. They are strumming. So for that one, you start with your pointer finger on the 7th fret, your ring finger on the 9th fret of the A and D strings just like before. And you kind of do it really quick. So, you strum down, up and take your pointer finger up into 9th fret and bring it here. Slide down the 5th and 7th fret and take your pointer finger up the 5th. Slide down with your pointer finger on 7th in the A string D string ring for the 9th. Strum up or you can do it two down strums. Take your pointer finger off, slide down, up strum, take your pointer finger off and then you slide it to here. It is the same thing with your spacing. Your pointing finger is on the 10th fret of your A string, B string and ring finger on the 12th fret. I always do that down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up, down. And then, you slide back down on the same thing again.
If you do that, go down and play seven and up and just slide on the 3rd of that. So, it is kind of like 7, 9, 5, 7, 10, 12, 7, 9, 5, 7, 3, 5. You can do this straight down, up. So, you guys can do every strum pattern you want. If you want to go something easy, just do down-up, down-up, down-up, down-up. And then after you play the chorus twice, it does something really kind of simple and all you do is you take your pointer on the 3rd fret of the A string or ring finger in the 5th fret on the D string. So, you go like this and you end it with like one strum where you just move this ring finger up to the 8th string, 5th fret and you put your middle finger on the D string 4th fret and send it back. At the very end, you repeat the intro, verse, chorus, and you end with this. That is the end of guitar one.
Guitar two, this is the intro. You repeat this until the verse. If you want to play just one guitar, you can add this harmonic in there. That is just the B and the D string and then back to your 7, 9. Then the verse is just like this. The chorus is somewhat like this.
After that chorus, play this part and then in the very end. I will try to stick them in the box. If for some reason they are not in the box and they are not working, send me a message with you saying y
