Alright, guys! This is another request by my buddy, TayShae.
So, this is a request for the song Faraway by Nickelback. It is out there, I believe its from All the Right Reasons album. But, guitar in on standard tuning, E, A, D, G, B, E. There is mainly the rift that covers the verse, which is the intro and the verse.
You play it 5 times in the beginning. Then there is a pre-chorus, then there is the chorus. The chorus is just strumming. But, you are going to start off the intro, you have a barre across all the strings in the 2nd fret. So, the 2nd fret, barre across all the strings with your pointer finger.
Then what you are going to do is you are going to take your middle finger and you are going to put on the 4 string down, which is your E, A, D, your G string on the 3rd fret. So this actually the note. That is going to be,
[Demonstration]
Okay, then take your ring finger and put it on the 3rd string down the 4th fret. Then you are going to take your pinky and put it on the 4 string on the 4th fret. So you are going to have your middle finger and your pinky on the same string.
It is just going to be your middle, it is going to be on the 3rd fret, the pinky is going to be on the 4th. So what you are going to do for this is the first bass note that you are going to play is the A string, 2nd string down, you are going to go.
[Demonstration]
So, number it 1, 2, 3,4, 5, 6. You are going to play 2, 3, 4, 3 then take your pinky off, play 4 and hammer on with your pinky so it is going to sound like this. Guys, you undo that, come down and play 3,2, then the 1st string. You are going to have this barre across the 2nd fret, it is a bass note for the next part so it is going to go.
[Demonstration]
So, you come down, you are going to play the number 1 string, your E string then you are going to skip this one, you are not going to pick you are going to go,
[Demonstration]
Then, you are going to go 4, and this is kind of tricky because what he actually do is where your pinky on this 4 string down, the 4th fret, there may be a better way but I am figuring it out. I just take my pinky over here on the 4th fret and play that note and then move it back really quick.
So you go. So, from the top, it goes and then, the last thing you do is you play this string open. So you move your barre off the top strings so that the E, number 1 is open and you go.
[Demonstration]
What you can actually do if you do not like the barre, you can just take your pointer finger off of the barre and move it to the 5th string down, so it is your B string. And then what you will play is this, 2, 3, 4, 3.
[Demonstration]
You can just take it off. And then you play 2, 3, 4, 3 then 5, 4, 3, 4. So, I just learnt it so it probably will not sound exactly like the song but I am going to kind of play that rift really quick.
[Demonstration]
The last part is,
[Demonstration]
So, that is the main rift of that. You play that 5 times. The pre-chorus, it is another picking part that is kind of quite in the background but it is not really that difficult. You are going to barre across on the 4th fret.
And then you are going to skip to the 5th fret and not have anything on and then on the 6th fret, put your ring finger on the 3 string down and 4 string down with your pinky on the 6th fret. You are going to have a barre across the 4th and then on the 3rd and 4th string down.
You will have your ring and pinky on the 6th fret. So what you are going to do for that is you are going to play with the picking, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, you are going to play 2, 3, 4, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4, so it is going to sound like this,
[Demonstration]
Play it twice then you slide it up to the 7th fret and you play the beginning part once where you just play 2343 then 5434 and then the little strumming, where you actually take your ring finger off of the 3rd string down and put your middle finger down the 5th fret and then just play these two strings. But I do not like that.
So I just leave it, I just turn into the barre. So, I will play it, again, here you go.
[Demonstration]
Slide to 7, it is the barre on 9 with other two fingers and you go,
[Demonstration]
I just strum the barre chord real quick and then after that it goes into the chorus. The chorus, actually all the chorus is about the last chorus I believe is just this.
It is just barre across the 2nd fret, put your ring finger, the 3rd string down, 4th fret, and the pinky 4th string down, 4th fret. And you just play the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings and you go.
[Demonstration]
After one measure you slide that up for your barre is across up here and you just really move this fingers up the string so your ring finger is on the 4th fret, 2nd string down and your pinky is on the 4th fret, 3rd string down and you play that. So, it goes.
[Demonstration]
And you slide that whole barre chord up to the 4th fret, slide down here,
[Demonstration]
And you just want to try and play these top three strings because if you start from all of them it just got that time that it is not in the song. So, now the bridge is the same as the intro.
The only thing that is different is on the last chorus, the ending chorus where it plays actually 8 times. You are going to slide up, and it is the same barre formations but instead of starting down here, you are going to start on the 4th fret.
So, you are going to go, 4th fret, barre and you are going to go play these three, move them up, that is the A, at this barre across 6th and this on 8th back on the 2 and 4.
[Demonstration]
So basically, it is the same exact progression where on this one, the beginning and the regular chorus you are going to 2, to 4, to down to open on the 2nd when you are starting 4 and 6 up to the 6 and 8 down to 2 and 4.
So, the tabs are going to be over here in the box and I hope this video helps you and keep the request coming and I will get to them as soon as I can. Thanks guys. See you.
