Hey guys, it is Aaron. This song here is called For What is Worth. It is by Buffalo Springfield. You might remember the song. If you ever seen Forest Gump if you are younger, since if you are my age or about 30. You are younger than you, you did not hear the song that came out.
But, it is pretty simple, standard tuning, no capo or anything. There it is, you hear something like this, it is sounds better on electric, but I am trying getting a lot of these tonight, I do not want go hook up my electric. But, you hear harmonic,
[Demonstration]
On the XII and on the VII
[Demonstration]
I do not know if you guys can do it.
[Demonstration]
Something like that. Basically, if you are not familiar with harmonics you know, I play the song, all you do is you put your finger like we can start on the XII fret.
So, if you are looking down here the guitar string, you can see where you put your pointer finger on, you can be touching the string but the string is not touching the fret.
[Demonstration]
That is a note you get.
[Demonstration]
This is the XII note.
[Demonstration]
If you are playing all the way down.
[Demonstration]
Good. Now, if you barely touch that string and that is where you pushing that down, but it is not touching the fret.
[Demonstration]
You play it.
[Demonstration]
You get that kind of tone.
[Demonstration]
Now if you play that,
[Demonstration]
And once it is played,
[Demonstration]
You take your pointer finger off; that is the harmonic. You play like this something like --
[Demonstration]
Like that, so that was the first one.
[Demonstration]
And then, you go and do the same on the VII fret.
[Demonstration]
It feel so much better on electric, it is much easier.
[Demonstration]
But, it is just the acoustic.
[Demonstration]
Okay, so do that a few times. Actually, that is what we are doing in the Verse, but I am going to teach you the chords so you can play there on the Verse. It is really, really easy. There are two chords, there is an E,
[Demonstration]
Something happen here,
[Demonstration]
A, what it is,
[Demonstration]
And exactly clear, that is E back to .
[Demonstration]
There’s a man, E,
[Demonstration]
If you go over there, A.
[Demonstration]
But telling me, E.
[Demonstration]
How we got to be where, A.
[Demonstration]
So, with the E, what I want you to do is put your pointer finger on the 4th string down, 1-2-3-4 from the top, I fret pointer finger.
Now, I want you to put your middle finger and ring to your middle goes on the 2nd string down II fret, ring goes on the 3rd string down II fret, all right.
[Demonstration]
That was the first chord, that was your E. If you get to your A from this, this pointer finger is a kind of a common finger. What do you mean by common finger is if it is here, on this 1-2-3- 4th string down, to get to an A, all you have to do is take these two finger off, your middle and ring, take them off. Slide your pointer finger down from the I fret to II fret on that G string, and put your ring finger on the II fret of your D string, 3rd string down and put your pinkie, Oh, I am sorry. Your ring finger 1-2-3-4 5th string down to B string, II fret.
So, the pointer finger staying from the same string, just slides down an A and then back up.
[Demonstration]
To the E --
[Demonstration]
So, it is here on the E --
[Demonstration]
Up here,
[Demonstration]
For the E or A --
[Demonstration]
Back to the E --
[Demonstration]
I think, that is going to help you a lot especially if you are beginner with these common fingers gets you kind of place holder.
Then, it is just of course, I think this time when we stop, that was an Em,
[Demonstration]
Stop children, and the D, what’s that sound.
[Demonstration]
What’s that sound, A,
[Demonstration]
Everybody looks what’s, C going down,
[Demonstration]
And, there it goes E-E-A-E-A, I will just play.
[Demonstration]
Now, if you notice the Verse, you can either do this harmonics.
[Demonstration]
That XII and VII, or you can strum E to A, and if you think about it, there are 12 steps on the
