What is happening guys? It is Aaron. The song I want to play next is, I think one that everybody should know basically because as soon as you play it all your friends will like it and girls will probably start to sing it if you play it at a campfire or something. But it is called Good Riddance, Time of your life by Greenday.
A lot of people kind of shy away from this song and I actually did it first too because it seems very hard. And it is really not easier than you think. The intro is four chords, that is G, [Demonstration], actually that is a G and C add9 [Demonstration] and then D [Demonstration]. So the G is a four finger G, let me go give it to you real quick. The open top string here, lower E, you are going to put your middle finger on the third fret. [Demonstration] then strum down with your A string. Pointer finger, 2nd fret. [Demonstration] Lower to open and then your ring finger and pinky, you are going to go on these bottom two strings, 3rd fret on. And the basic picking pattern, I am going to play it to you real quick so you can see it is not really hard. [Demonstration]
So that is the intro and the chords actually. So basically, I will go ahead and give you the picking pattern real quick. We are going to have tabs over here to -- the tabs maybe pretty complicated if you are a very, very beginner. The only thing you can recognize is the four chords on the intro and the chords are G [Demonstration]. And G, G second time, C add9 which is as your G but you moved your pointer before you were here, 3rd fret, single fret and top two strings move this down one string, third fret and this -- down to one string until the second part again. So basically just move these down one string. Then you play that, and this, the third B, the fourth B, you go to a D which you put pointer finger on the third string up in the second fret, your ring finger goes on the second string up on the third fret and your middle finger is going to go in the high E string and it is going to go in the second fret. That is your D. the picking pattern is exact, the same, except you change your bass notes. So a G, the basic note is on the sixth string, [Demonstration]. C add9 changes to the A string. [Demonstration] And on the D, changes to the E, A, D string. [Demonstration] So on this, you are going to play, we will just a number this, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. So we will start at the top is 1, just because it is closest to you. That is number but that is how we are going to do it. So the 1, [Demonstration]. That is 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4. [Demonstration] 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4. So, 1, 5, 3, [Demonstration] 1, no, 1, 3, 5, [Demonstration] 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4. So 1, 3, 5, 4, [Demonstration] 4, 3, 4. So right that down. 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4, okay. So, the only thing that is going to be different in each of this is that first note whereas here is 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4. The next time it is going to be 2, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4 and then lastly it is going to be 3, [Demonstration] 4, 5, 4, 3, 4. So it is [Demonstration] 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4, 2, 3, 5, 4, 3, 4, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 4. All right, so that is the basic intro. [Demonstration]
Also, if you are a beginner and not good at picking yet, you can always just strum this in a good way that just strum it and make it sound distinctive is when you strum them. [Demonstration] It is as first, three strums like [Demonstration]. Just play like the top 3 or 4 strings and then on the subsequently top 3 or 4 strings and then play the bottom. [Demonstration] It just sounds like [Demonstration]. So that way even if you are not advanced enough to where you can pick, you can just do the strumming.
So that is the intro and the chorus. The picking pattern is going to be about the same with the verse except the chords are E Minor. [Demonstration] C [Demonstration] G [Demonstration] D. So it is E Minor [Demonstration]. C [Demonstration] G [Demonstration] and D [Demonstration]. Very rare with the G and the D so the E minor is open, low E, then your pointer finger, second fret on the A string, D string which is the 3rd one down. Keep your middle finger on the second fret and then you strum through open it. [Demonstration] So the E Minor sounds like this [Demonstration] and then you are going to go to C. to go to a C for the E Minor, leave your middle finger where it is. Pick up your ring finger, move it up actually to the first fret of the 2nd string up. So, high E and the next string is your B, [Demonstration] pick on the first fret. [Demonstration] This string is open. Then you have your middle finger where it was on E Minor. And then on the A string is the second pick, it is the second one down, you are going to have your finger on the third fret. [Demonstration] So that chords are [Demonstration]. E Minor [Demonstration] C, [Demonstration] D, [Demonstration] and after that G to the D [Demonstration].
So, intro, one more time, the intro and the chorus is G [Demonstration] G, [Demonstration] C add9 [Demonstration] D, [Demonstration] and the verse is E minor [Demonstration] C, [Demonstration] G, [Demonstration] D [Demonstration]. Whenever I play, I just like to throw some stuff in there like E Minor [Demonstration]. You can make it your own, anyway you want to. [Demonstration]. So, you know, make your turn, have fun with it. Guitars are supposed to be fun and I am going to have the chords over here. Also, I have link to the tabs. If you are a beginner and you do not want to be confused, do not click on the link unless you want to. So, it is pretty self explanatory. And if you are having trouble reading that tab on the link, then just send me a private message and I will explain it you in a message. So, I hope it helps and learn this song and you are going to impress your friends. So, thanks guys. See you.
