Learn to Play Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's part 1 on Guitar

Hey guys, it is Aaron. This next video is going to be “Hey, There Delilah” by Plain White T’s. There are three parts to this; there is the intro which makes up part of the verse. So, there is a verse, there is a chorus and there is the bridge. So, and they are all made up of really about four different kinds of notes, I guess you could say or progressions, so we are going to take it from the top and start at the intro. So, it is in standard tuning, For the intro, I want you to take your pointer finger and bar across the first 3 strings on your 2nd fret. So, the bottom three strings on your 2nd fret, with your pointer finger, all right, then you are going to stick your middle finger on the 3rd fret of your B string, so it is that note, all right, so and then what you are going to pick, so right now before I start. Pointer finger bottom 3 strings, just bar 3 and then stick your middle finger right here, 3rd fret of your B string which is your 2nd string up from the bottom. Alright, you are going to take your thumb and you are going to pick your 3rd string down, your D string, and then you are going to take your pointer finger and put on the G string and your middle finger on the B string and they are going to pick up and so you are going to go. Pick these strings with your thumb, then G and B with your pointer and middle so-- [Demonstration] You do that four times, so you are going to go-- [Demonstration] Then you are going to leave that bar where it is, lift your middle finger up and then stick your ring finger or your pinky whichever you prefer, I use my ring finger. If you have smaller hands your pinky might be better for you, or if you like to using your pinky it is easier I just do not like using my pinky as much. You are going to put it on the D string, 3rd string down from the top on the 4th fret, and you are on the same picking. Alright, so thumb. This is on your ring finger now on the D and your bar on these bottom three strings still. You are going to play the D string with your thumb and the G and B string with your pointer and middle again, so that intro sounds like this. [Demonstration] So, you do that two times. Alright, now that actually is the intro, you play that twice. For the verse, you are going to play that same thing, okay you are going to play that little progression twice just like the intro. But on the verse, you are going to play this beginning, [Demonstration] You are going to play it just like the intro, so you play your D, this little down, four times, then that is four more times. [Demonstration] After that, what you are going to do is you are going to take this ring finger and you are going to put it on your 4th fret of your E, A, D, G string. Alright, 4th down from the top, 3rd from the bottom, 4th fret to ring, then I put my middle finger on that 3rd fret of your B string, and I put my pointer finger on the 2nd fret of my A string. Alright, so 2nd string down, 2nd fret pointer finger, 4th string down 4th fret your ring finger. Fifth string down from the top, 3rd fret middle finger. Alright, then you are going to do this, you are going to take your thumb put it on the A string and you are going to play-- [Demonstration] Then take your pointer off, and put it on the G string, 3rd fret, alright. So, that part there, you got your pointer finger on the 2nd fret of your A string. You are going to play that A string with your thumb, then pick the G and B with your pointer and middle, you play that 3 times so. You take your pointer finger off, play the A string open. [Demonstration] Then leave these 2 fingers here, but bring your pointer finger down to the 3rd fret on the G string and you are going to play this twice, just picking this. Now I am picking the E string with the thumb, still G and B with your pointer and middle, play that twice, all right, so from the top it is. [Demonstration] Then these two fingers here, do not take them off these strings but I will just slide them up, so they are both on the 2nd fret. Alright, so your ring finger is now going to be on the G string, 2n
