What is going on guys? It is Aaron. This is the last song video I am going to do for the night. If you have not seen other ones I have put up Stairway to Heaven I would have this in three parts. Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. That is one part. That is pretty easy to learn I think.
I think it is all put up today but this is the last lesson because I am actually trying to work on some basic guitar lesson a little later. But for right now this one is by Shinedown. It is called I Dare You. I think it is up for their new album. I might be older, I am not sure. My younger brother is not so little. He requested this one. He wanted to learn how to play the chords. I am going to give him some problems and I actually spent just about the last three hours in trying to get the song down. Not really three, maybe one and a half. But the intro, the very beginning sounds like this.
[Demo]
This is giving me some trouble. I cannot figure out how to do all the tabs I found. It did not sound just like he plays it on the radio or on the live version here. So, I found the version live in walktab.
So, first off, you need to tune your guitar down half step. So, instead of E, this is Eb. Instead of A, it is Ab and then down the line. And once your guitar is tuned down, I am going to teach you the four parts. The intro --well, is actually made in three parts because the intro and the bridge are the same thing. The intro and the bridge and then, the verse is actually the same too. But the only different part is like the intro, verse and bridge are the same but the pre-chorus and chorus are kind of difficult.
So, what I am going to show you right now is the intro. You are going to take your pointer finger and put it on the 6th fret of your G string. Which is your 1, 2, 3, 4th one down, 6th fret. It sounds like this.
[Demo]
On the next string of your D string, put your middle finger on the 7th fret.
[Demo]
Just that note.
So, these two notes you have on the G string and then on the D string. Now, when you strum, you are going to go --
[Demo]
You are just going to play the middle two strings.
You are going to play 3 then you are going to put your pinky on the G string on the 9th fret.
[Demo]
You will get that sound.
[Demo]
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. So, 3 on this one 5 on that one.
So, what you do there is going to be your --
[Demo]
Alright. So, when you slide down here, you are going to try and keep this fret stand, fret stand with it. What that basically means is my pointer finger on the 6th fret and my highest finger is on the 9th. So, it is actually really only three frets but one is on the 6th, one is on the 9th, so there are two between them.
What you are going to do is just slide down, so your pointer finger is still on the G string but it is on the 3rd fret.
[Demo]
And the middle finger is still on the D string but it is on the 4th fret now. And this pinky is still on the G string up high but it is on the 6th fret now. So, you are going to slide down everything three frets.
[Demo]
Slide three frets down and then you are going to go --
[Demo]
You are going to go --
[Demo]
Three and whenever you take that pinky off, you need to take your ring finger and put it on the G string on the 4th fret. So, you really just need that pointer finger and just go -
[Demo]
But you want to hit and you want to go --
[Demo]
Whenever you come down, take that pinky finger off 6th fret. You need to have your middle finger on the D string 4th fret and your ring on the G string 4th fret. Alright, so that right there sounds like this.
[Demo]
That is how he plays the intro. That is how he plays in the verse. That is what he plays in the bridge as well. And I forgot this two. The very beginning of the song, you can play this. So, you just put your pinky and ring on the 3rd fret of your bottom two strings, 3rd fret. I will play that and then.
[Demo]
Yes, like that. So, that is the intro. Then you get into the pre-chorus and the pre-chorus -- in all the tabs I cannot find one that has everything I like, so I am going to like the pre-chorus but I think the chorus is right, some on the intro is wrong, but everything else is right. So, I am going to tell you for the pre-chorus, I just like to play a barre chord where you barre chord where you barre across on the 7th fret all the strings and then put your ring and pinky on the 9th fret of your A and D. So, it is like --
[Demo]
I think that it is right.
[Demo]
You are just going to barre across the bottom five strings on the 7th fret and your ring and pinky are actually going to be on the D and G, 3rd and 4th strings down. You are going to go --
[Demo]
So, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. All down strums. Slide up through your barre across the 9th and these two are on the 11th then you go --
[Demo]
--1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. And then the thing is going to sound like this because it is going to go --
[Demo]
Let us try that again.
[Demo]
I think that is right.
But what you are going to do --
[Demo]
Okay, here is what we are going to do. Come up here on the 5th fret and you are going to barre across the bottom five strings and then just put your ring and pinky on the D and G just like they were up here. So, honestly when you are up here on the 7 and 9, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. You are only going to need to lift this up. Just slide them down to the 5th and you are going to go 5, 5, 5, with your barre and then move everything to one fret, so 4, 4, 4.
So, when I say 5, I mean 5 in 7. When I say four, I mean 4 in 6. So, I am going 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4. 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4.
Alright, so it goes --
[Demo]
And then at the very end it goes --
[Demo]
Then it goes 5, 4, 2 and then A. So, really with that A, you can just go --
[Demo]
You can just actually go and make an A. Just leave those two fingers then we are on the middle two strings. So, you go --
[Demo]
Like that. So, that is the pre-chorus, the first time through. The second time through is just, get back to that D or A and then you are going to do an Em which I think you should just --
[Demo]
-- slide down to the 4th fret and do A. So, 1, 2, 3, 4. Let me check that.
[Demo]
Alright.
