Alright guys. This video is for the song called Jamie by Dashboard Confessional. The guitar is tuned on half step down
So, Eb. The standard tuning is E to G, G, B, E. It sounds like this --
[Demo]
Half down is Eb, Ab, Bb, Gb, Bb, Eb. A quick way to do that if you do not know the tabs, put your capo on the 1st fret, tune to standard tuning. Take capo off and you have the step down. Alright, if you do not understand anymore, you can Google half step down tuning guitar or wherever you are going to get the explanation. Okay the song Jamie by Dashboard Confessional. Half step down. It starts out with this harmonic.
[Demo]
With that ring. Let that ring for about seven seconds and when you play harmonic is you just put your finger across the whole six strings and you just actually go a bit down and you should be touching your guitar strings but they should not be touching the fret. You should put them above the fret, play it and take your finger off. Alright, seven seconds. Then you hear this go--
[Demo]
Alright, so the tab, you are going to play, you are going to see this G. It is a G chord.
[Demo]
Then play it three times. Down, down, down and then into the D. This has the second chord wrong. It says 3rd fret on the high E, 2nd fret on the B and 3rd fret on the G. That is wrong. It should be a D chord.
[Demo]
I will play down, down, up, down, up, down. Down, down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up. It goes so fast. It is going to be really hard for me to give you a strum pattern to do. All I have to say is you are going to play 1, 2. Like --
[Demo]
-- to the 3. So, 1, 2, 3 switch to D.
[Demo]
So, you do this part.
[Demo]
G to D. Do that two times. And you actually do that four times to the intro. So, you go G to D four times to the intro. Then you do it eight times for the verse which is the same as the intro.
[Demo]
So, do that a little thing eight times for the verse. The pre-chorus goes -- the chords you are going to use are G to D --
[Demo]
To a Bm bar chord.
[Demo]
To a C.
[Demo]
Alright, you are going to go to this two times. If you do not know any of those chords just Google them or look on another site. But you are going to start, you are going to go G and play it three times. Like three beats. Like 1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. So, G, D. D, 2, 3. D, 2, 3. Bm, 2, 3. C, 2, 3. So --
[Demo]
Like that. You do that two times through. Then for the pre-chorus, you play this once. You play G. Just like the intro. And then you are going to come through on the 5th fret, bar across the 5th fret. Put your ring and pinky on the 7th fret of the D and G strings and you are going to play one strum.
[Demo]
Slide that to the 7th. Then bar to the 7th.
[Demo]
Play that three times. Slide the bar down the 2nd fret up to the 3rd.
[Demo]
So, I am just going to slide the bar up to these two fingers, so it is sounds like two frets higher than the bar. I am just using the bar as kind of your judgment. So, bar starts on the 5th.
[Demo]
Do that once then you go back on the chorus. It is just the same as the intro.
[Demo]
Actually, it is not. It is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 to C. It is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
[Demo]
D 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
[Demo]
Bm to C.
[Demo]
G, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. D, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Bm, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. C, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Just like that.
The bridge is --
[Demo]
G to Bm. Then it goes back in the beginning.
[Demo]
Like that. There is a solo on this tab. I am not going to teach you. So, basically, all the chords are kind of set up.
So, hopefully this just helps a little bit. Let me know some questions. I am trying to get to these videos and still it is -- I guess you say, there is much detail but then quicker since I have like 500 videos. I do not know, actually I have more than 500. That is the last time I checked about a week ago.
Hope this video helps. Tabs should be over here. See you!
