All right guys. Well, it is Aaron again. It is the last video I am doing before I go to bed. This song is by Jesse McCartney is called Leavin’. It is a pretty new song and pretty popular apparently. I have heard a few times but it is the same-- I will make sure I got the right tabs. It is not really difficult. You can play it barre chords or open.
The guy that I have seen in the acoustic version plays it in barre chords but I like playing open chords because I do not know, I just do, for preference. It is on standard tuning, the bar chords, the intro goes A, D, E, D. The verse goes A, D, E, D. The chord goes A, D, E, D.
So, if you want to play bar chords. You are going to play this. You are going up here bar cross the 5th fret and then you are going put your ring and pinky on the 7th fret of the A and B string. So you go--
[Demonstration]
That is where you are going to play this.
That is your A, then from that I want you to strum a few times and I will show you how it goes to the D, which is where your pointer finger slides down and bars on the bottom five strings. This top string is muted, you can kind of rest the tip of your pointer finger up against it. You mute it. Then you play the 5th fret on your A string and then your D and G on the 7th fret.
[Demonstration]
That right there. Then your E you just take that same thing do not move anything and slide up 2 frets. That is, 7, 9, 9.
You just play the three strings, back down to 5, 7. So, I am going kind of give you a little feel for that.
[Demonstration]
I will try to strum this for you or you can play the open chords which is A, obviously.
[Demonstration]
D, back to E.
[Demonstration]
One thing I like is if you play, put your pointer finger on this G string and if you play these four chords right, this pointer finger never moves off this string.
Your first chord A, leave your pointer finger in 2nd fret in G string, middle finger is on the D string 2nd fret and your ring curls a little high on the B string 3rd fret. You play your A like that.
[Demonstration]
Then you get your D, slide your ring finger down on the same string that B string slides on the 3rd fret. The pointer finger stays there and the middle comes back to the 2nd fret of the high E.
[Demonstration]
Then when you go to your E, keep that pointer finger right there on that G string slide up to the 1st fret. These two your middle and ring fall on the 2nd and 3rd strings, on your A and D.
[Demonstration]
That is your A and then get back to your D, slide that pointer finger down, same string, again the 2nd fret, brings it to 3rd fret, to the B string and the middle finger 2nd fret high E.
[Demonstration]
So, that is there.
Now, what I am going to do is just play it and give you the feel for the strumming.
[Demonstration]
I will do the bar chords first and you could turn like this.
That is down, down, up, down, up, up, down, down, down, down. Down, down, up, down, up, up, down, down, down, down.
[Demonstration]
A, E, E.
I might try and get this strum pattern. I just go something like this--
[Demonstration]
So, down, mute, up down, up, up, down, up.
So, it is like this down, mute, up, up, mute, down, up, down, up, mute, down, mute, up, up, down, up, down, up.
[Demonstration]
Something like that or you can play it out here the same thing.
[Demonstration]
It might even sound better to play barre chords, but I will leave it up to you guys. See you. That is for the rest of that song. Good luck with it guys and see you.
