So, guys, it is Aaron, this is a request from the song called “Nutshell” by Alice In Chains, and I just want to teach you guys how to play real quick.
Your guitar needs to be tuned out half step, so every string is tuned down half step. So, your E flat, A flat, D flat, G flat, B flat, and E flat it sound like this.
Now, there is really four chords, for the most part and there is a couple of variations in there but I do not really use them when I play along the song; but first we are going to get into it. First chord I want you to make it in E minor 7, if you do not know what that is, you are going to take your pinkie finger towards the 3rd fret your high E string, and on the next string up, this should be your 5th string counting to top 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, above the strings you have your ring and pinkie on the 3rd fret.
Then you have to take your middle finger put it on the 3rd string down, G string, 2nd fret, then put your pointer finger at the 2nd fret of your A string , strum it down. That is how that chord sounds like.
So, what we are going to do now is you are going to have a strumming pattern there that will start like this. And then after that you are going to switch—before you are going to do that, I am going to switch it to a G, B go to D, the Cadd9. So, I will play it together real quick.

All right, you may start out to go open, 2-2, open, 3-3. So, these numbers I have given you are the strings and then words that I am going to use, it means put the string open, 2-2 in the next 2 strings, fingers on 2nd and open and then 3-3 means 2 strings, you are going to have your finger on the 3rd fret.
So, from there, you can strum the pattern. So down, down, up, down, up, up, down, down and then G. The trick to get on G is 1st string and 3rd fret that is three, get your middle finger next string down, put you pointer finger on the 2nd fret, noticed these finger is open and thsese bottom two strings, you can have your ring finger on 3rd fret and pinkie finger on the 3rd fret and that is your G.
You have B switch it to D which is open, open, open, your four strings on top, 1, 2, 3 and 4. On your 2nd fret, your pointer finger, with this string with the 3rd fret with your ring finger and the high E string is going to be 2nd fret with your middle finger.
Today you are going to switch from there to Cadd9, the same with your G with the second chord we had except to move your middle finger and your pointer finger down the strings. So 3rd fret, that is string number one make it at 3rd fret with string number two. Your pointer finger at 2nd fret on the 2nd string, put the 2nd fret and 3rd string. So you have open, 3-2, open, 3-3, so that together is G, G, Cadd9, G minor 7. G, G, Cadd9, whenever you are strumming Cadd9 that would be a couple of Bs. You can tell that if you listen to it close you can hear me once. That note makes them with the strumming.
So, all you have to do is quite simple, you just strum it at C at 9, and you just strum and hammer off with your pointer finger. You can do it whether you are on upbeat or downbeat. So, you do whatever you like that because you strum with the song. So, one last time with our strum pattern
