All right guys, it is Aaron. This is a song called simple man which was originally done by Lynyrd Skynyrd and it was recently redone by Shinedown. And I know Lynyrd Skynyrd’s version is a classic but I actually prefer Shinedown’s version. I just think it is cleaner, it is acoustic, I think.
There are really 3 chords used in the whole song. There is a C, Am, and there is a G. If you do not know either of this, click on the info up here and the very first thing that shows up on this tab that I am giving you guys is the chords. If you do not know how to read tablature, I need to do a video on it. All tablature is an upside down picture so for instance on the intro the first thing you will see on the actual picking is you will see a picture, six lines and the first one has a 0 h 2 3, all that means is you are going to play it open. Hammer on the second and then play 3. So, to get right into the intro, there is really two parts of this whole song and as far as the verse go, there is this part, [Demonstration].
That right there is the same part that I play twice. And then there is also this part, [Demonstration]. So basically what you are going to do is -- this is what some people call walking it up, so it is called you are going to walk up the A string. And once you are going to realize this, you are going to play [Demonstration]
And it goes, that verse, the riff, if you look your hands are on the C position so we are going to walk it up and turn this first intro in and you are going to end up in a C position. So what I want you to do is I want you to play the A string and play it open. First note, and play it once and hammer on, I do not play that, I play, I pick it all three times. So if you see the hammer on, just pretend that 8 is just a dash. So, go to the A string, you are going to play open, then you are going to put your middle finger down the 2nd fret, play it again. And then you are going to take your ring finger and play on the 3rd fret. All in the A string and pick it again. So, you can play, [Demonstration]
As soon as you move that middle finger off of the 2nd fret, your A string, once you place that ring finger on the 3rd fret, play its last note, you want to go right into your C position. So all that means is you are going to move this middle finger down to the 2nd fret of D string and then on the B string and have your pointer finger on the 1st fret and you are going to go [Demonstration].
So from there you are going to go on the A string open, 2nd fret, it is your middle, 3rd fret it is your ring, then you are going to be in your C chord, you are going to play the D string, G, B, G, D, G. So if we number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, you are going to play 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 4. So if quicker it sounds like this. And as soon as you play that last note you are going to switch to the G. Once you get in this G, you are going to play down, you are going to play E, A, D, G, D, A, and back to your G. So it could sound like this. From the beginning, G, like that. So you are going to go [Demonstration]
So open, 2, 3, A string, then you go right to that C formation and you go, 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 4 and to the G, 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 4 and after that last not there, the last note on the G string, you are going to go Am, so that is [Demonstration]. Down, down, up, down, up, G, G, A, [Demonstration]. So bear with me as I try to figure this out. So [Demonstration], then G is down, down, then back to Am, down, down, up, [Demonstration].
And then on G, down, up, C, no -- up, down, up, on the G and then back to the Am, it is down, down, up, up, down, down, or something like that. You can figure it out. This is what the rhythm should sound like.
[Demonstration]
Like that. Then the second verse is, everything is the same except this time whenever you go [Demonstration] instead of going to this strumming, you are still going to go the Am but you are going to play [Demonstration] which is really easy to play, so do not worry about that. So the first part of the riff is only the strumming. The second part starts out the same on the A
