Hey guys. What is up? This next one is by Dashboard Confessional and the song is called “Stolen”. It is in tuning is half step down. So, the tuning of the guitar is half step down. You can put your cable on the 1st fret to the standard tuning and I want to take your capo off. You will be half stepp down. There is an intro. The lead guitar. I am teaching the lead and the rhythm. It is really pretty simple.
The intro for the lead is put your pointer finger on the 11th fret of your G, middle finger 12th fret in the B string and then you are going to play the G string and hammer on the 13th fret.
[Demonstration]
Like that. So, 11th hammer on 13th then 12th.
[Demonstration]
You do that six times and after the sixth time you are going to do the 11th, hammer on 13th, 12th then you are going to come back up to play 11th on the B string and then 14th on your D string. So, that part sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
Like that.
Alright, the chorus lead guitar. Pointer finger starts at the 5th fret of your B string and you are going to play 5, 5, 5, 5, 9, then 7 on the high E, then 5, 5, 9, 9, 5, 5, 7 on the high E and 5 again on the B.
On the second verse, where it says “invitation only grant farewells,” you are going to play 4th string on the B string, G string open, 4th fret on the A string back to open G. It sounds really odd and then towards the end of that line you are going to play 12th fret on the B. Then 11th fret on the high E and hammer on 14th .
[Demonstration]
Like that. You play a little riff four times. Alright.
As far as strumming goes, the chords that you are going to play, put your pointed finger on the 7th fret of your A string, ring and pinky on the 9th fret of your D and G.
So, the chord is like this--
[Demonstration]
You just start to play the top four strings. You can play the bottom. It is like an earth chord. You just strum it right there.
[Demonstration]
This is your first chord.
Your second chord is again to take your pointer finger off and just play the A, D, and G. This has an “X” by it which means you can try to mute it. This is your base. So, you are going to rest your pointer finger on it, so it mutes it.
[Demonstration]
The third one is you are going to put your--you are going to twist your hand from where you where. So, you will see like here, you are going to twist it so you can get this finger over here.
Middle finger on the 9th fret on your low E and then come to stretch your pointer finger in the A string immediately.
[Demonstration]
It is going to be quite tough to play because it rattles.
[Demonstration]
And then go back to the second chord where you play while you are muting this E.
[Demonstration]
So, these are the 4 chords.
[Demonstration]
Something like that. That I showed you is the rhythm guitar from the intro, verse and chorus, and also another guitar you can work in there. You put your pointer finger 2nd fret on A string then D and G on the 4th fret and you just mute this. You can kind of wrap your thumb to mute it then slide everything up two frets. Then slide to 4th to 6th frets and then back down here.
When you slide back down, you put your pinky. Keep it on the 4th fret, in your G, and then you take your ring for up and put your pointer finger on the D string 2nd fret.
[Demonstration]
That is kind of rhythm guitar you can work in there. For the bridge, you can actually, I mean if you want to try sing a little bit with a step lower, I think it is. That could be wrong but just put and make it E chord where your pointer finger on the G string 1st fret, middle and ring are on the A and D 2nd fret. It is an E.
[Demonstration]
Let us turn to bridge.
And the barre for E before “we are in celebration” that part where it says is E.
[Demonstration]
From this E you leave that ring finger where it is and then put your pinky right down below in the G string 2nd fret.
[Demonstration]
Then you slide all that up to the 6th fret those two. And then put your pointer on the A string 4th fret.
[Demonstration]
Then you want to slide everything up one fret and then m
