Learn to Play Swing Life Away by Rise Against on Guitar

Hey guys, it is Aaron. The next video I want to do, request for song by Rise Against called Swing Life Away. Pretty simple song to be honest with you, but the tab that I want to give you because I think the best tab timing lines when you look at these chords at first, do not get kind of flustered because they have a lot of like the silly G5, Csus, Am7, D5 and A5, but they are really easy chords, even if you never seen that barre before if you just beginning. But to start off, I might get tune, my guitar is tuned down half step, also called Eb tuning, that just means that instead of E, A, D, G, B, E, where tuned up Eb, Ab, Db, and Gb, Bb, Eb, now, we are down. This kind of sound a little bit different. If you do not know how to that to get tabs that down tuning is use an electronic tuner or just put your capo on the I fret and then tune to standard and take you capo off, that would be half step down. Alright, the five chords we are going to use in this song, there is a G5. So whenever you see a G5, basically, it is just the four fingered G, to it is going to look like this. Middle finger is on E string, top string [Demonstration] You are on III fret, pointer finger is on the II fret of our A string, middle to open, and then the ring finger down here in your B string is your second string up, one, two, second string up from the bottom III fret, and our ring finger and you pinky goes on the III fret, [Demonstration] On your high E, all right, that was your first chord, it says G5, really, it is just a four finger G, [Demonstration] Alright, the next chord is a Csus. Basically, it is a Cadd9. So, you leave these two fingers here. [Demonstration] These two fingers, that is why you do not leave the front chord the whole time. So, you always leave these two here on the bottom III fret, the bottom two strings. Alright, so you got your G, [Demonstration] Cadd9, you just take your pointer finger move it down to the II fret of the third string down for D string, so was that here on the second, that first chord now is here on the third string. And the middle goes here on the second string down III fret. Alright, so your Csus, [Demonstration] Like that. The next chord that is in it is a, it is called a, okay, Em7. Whenever you see the Em7, like I said, this two fingers here on the bottom are the same. Your pointer finger is in the same place it was in our first chord, that is your G, but instead of the middle finger around III fret of the low E, you lift that up. You are going to put o the D string, your 3rd string down, [Demonstration] II fret, see that top string, [Demonstration] Open, second string is pointer finger II fret, third string and middle finger II fret, fourth string open and with the bottom two string are, [Demonstration] III fret again. The fourth chord is going to be a it is called a D5. I have seen they call it Dsus before, maybe it own a five or wrong well, but make your D, so you pointer finger II fret on your G sting, ring finger III fret B sting, and then your ring finger is actually going to play the high E string on the III fret. See how these two are muted and you do not have to play, and you have open in that D string, G string second and B and E, both 1/3. So, like I said, we move these three here. And the last chord is an A5. So, these two fingers that are here at the bottom begin, and the only that finger we have is our pointer finger is in the D string, third string down from top II fret. Alright, so you had the G5, [Demonstration] So, it sounds like Csus, [Demonstration] Em7, [Demonstration] D5, [Demonstration] And A5. [Demonstration] Alright, so remember it is half step tuning if you retard in some same way. Alright, first part Intro, you play this three times, you play on the tab over here, leaves over here. Oh, it does not matter. You are going to play, it is kind of little rich which sounds like this, [Demonstration] That IV fret, [Demonstration] See, [Demonstration] And there is that A chord, the. [Demonstration] I actually do not play with the finger picking while the tab shows it. I just play the B, G, [Demonstration] And the D string open, I go, [Demonstration] So, B, G, D, then I play on the G string, I play, [Demonstration] Two open then four on the D string, [Demonstration] And then. [Demonstration] And then, back in the A, [Demonstration] But, [Demonstration] And the strum pattern on that A is, [Demonstration] So, [Demonstration] Like that, and I just put my hands down to mute it. So, you do that little riff of, [Demonstration] And then on the G string two open, [Demonstration] And then four in the D string, there that little A. [Demonstration] Mute it and do it three times. On the third time, you actually got part two times, on the third time, you are going to end at D5, you are going to go, [Demonstration] And you are going to go, [Demonstration] So, [Demonstration] And mute, alright. Then, you get to the Verse. The Verse I am loud and clear or am I breaking up? The chord progression is that Em7, [Demonstration] And strum pattern I uses down, down, up; down, up; switch, down; down, up; down, up; switch, [Demonstration] So, it is, [Demonstration] Alright, so, it is down; down, up; down,up. Em7, you got once B5, once Csus twice. So, [Demonstration] The second time through it is Em7 to G, [Demonstration] To Csus, so it goes Em7, D5, Csus, Em7, G5, Csus, and then Em7, G5, Csus, D5, all right. So, I am kind of just try and play it and sing it really quick. So, [Demonstration] Something like that. I am not ,listen to song awhile. But one thing you also kind of hear is the tabs that we have here at the Chorus along with the words, but one thing I like is you kind of have this kind of, it is like a chuck, it is like a, [Demonstration] See, [Demonstration] Stuff me to get right on beat without the with song playing, but the same strum pattern uses, [Demonstration] Alright, one thing I am doing is you kind of chuck if you strum, [Demonstration] And immediately it runs, so if you are going to. [Demonstration] So basically, I keep with the all of my hands on the strings as I strum, [Demonstration] I will bring it up, [Demonstration] Kind of like as you strum, you are bouncing, almost bouncing you are here at the end of the strings to me, and you see kind of get of practice with that to kind of get a little beat. The Chorus is Em7, [Demonstration] To Csus, [Demonstration] To G, [Demonstration] Pass to the A5, [Demonstration] So Em7, [Demonstration] To Csus, [Demonstration] G5, [Demonstration] A5, [Demonstration] Does that twice, third time, does it four times, and I will sing it really quick. [Demonstration] I might have been a little off key, but you can kind of get the feeling for the strumming pattern. Alright, there is the second Verse, Chorus again, then there is kind of a solo, there are some stuff there and filing this tab if you want to check it out. Then, you got, see, kind of a Bridge but it is really just repeating on the other way apart. And then, you have the Chorus again, and at the end, it does this swing like way four times. The first, third and fourth time, it says it are just Em7, [Demonstration] So, Em7 to G and C. [Demonstration] The third time is Em7, [Demonstration] G5 to A5, [Demonstration] Let us see, I think that is like much to open, [Demonstration] Here comes different, [Demonstration] Thing it is not good as much here, but that was all the chords go. And then, the very end, just end, you play the B string open, [Demonstration] G string open, [Demonstration] D string II fret, [Demonstration] Then strum at G.
