Alicia Keys
Piano Tutorial
Today’s song will be “That’s the Thing About Love” by Alicia Keys. This is based on her retry performance, it will be in a different key from her album version. So, this going to be a live version or a live you know, a live interpretation of the song, it is going to be in a different key. I am not sure of the sounds like, but here we go.
For the intro, it is going to be eight beats for each chord and a variation on the 4th beat in the eight beats, okay. Now, it looks complicated but it is not. It is just the E flat, E flat, E flat, E in the left and in the right G-E flat-E. Okay. The intro is just this and that goes down to an E flat chord okay. It is just E flat-C-E and then A flat-E flat-A in the left hand or in both hands. That last four was the F minor, just F-A flat-C, F-A flat-C and our final chord is C minor. And then, it just basically goes back to the beginning which is the A flat chord, okay. That may seem a little rush but through repeat further on the song, so it is okay. That was the intro part which just goes E flat for eight beats, A flat for the other eight beats and then just finishes on F minor chord right there, then back up to right there, the E flat. And then once we go into the E flat, we are going to go into the verse section. Here we go.
It starts up with low. That is basically all her verse section right there. It is not too difficult. It is just, I am going to go one chord at a time to show you where all the verses go, okay. E flat-E flat-F flat or F minor-C and give low a little high and then That’s the thing About Love. And that’s the thing about love, I am not going to sing but that is where the words are basically. After that, you are going to have the build up of the three chords, here we go. It is after you to reach this part. Then you just want to do octave of this. A flat, right there; that is when she does a little walk down on the notes or on the scale. You can play with either left or right hand. It sounds better with your right and left hand but you can do with the right hand so it should be easier. We are going to the right time to shine before the main chords of the song. Again, we are going for the D. That is it basically for a little transition she does towards the Greek words.
Now, let us go to the main chorus. The chorus is basically, we are going to run on all octaves basically, it is E-F natural, G, E, F, G then a little F, G, F, G, G, F, F, F, E and play for a few more beats, E, F, G, G, G, F, F, F, E, then you go back to the intro basically.
Rate that as a change towards the outro which is this A and B natural and it all ends the way it started which is on the E flat chord and of course, you can add and you know, with extra goodness endings right there and then she ends up on both E flat right there across my hands when I say E flat. That is it for the song. Just remember that the verses in the intro are pretty much the same, the easier chords, I will show you as definitions, we will able to refer back to this. E flat, E flat, A flat, F minor, C minor, F major and then you know, or then you just go back to the A flat and then moves back to D. And of course Okay. I know it is a little bit fast but I want it to get finish within the time, if you have any questions, just send them my way. Thanks.
