This is the New Testament mis quote Jesus.
Coral Ridge Ministries, it presents: Learn Tyro Discern, with John Rabe.
John Rabe: New Testament is Scholar Bart Ehrman, is one of the Medias favorite biblical scholars.
For former Evangelical, he now calls himself an agnostic, and claims that the ancient handwritten manuscripts on which we base our bible translations are unreliable.
According to Ehrman, they are aero reading copies and centuries removed from the originals. Dr. Ehrman explained his view on the Colbert Report.
Dr. Ehrman: The problem is that we do not have the original manuscript of any books of the bible. What we have are copies made many centuries later and all of these copies have differences in them.
Colbert: What happened in the bible is, what happen to Jesus life, right?
Dr. Ehrman: Well it may have been, but the problem is we do not have the originals, and these copies that we have, these thousands of copies are all different from one another.
John Rabe: Was it that true? We have only aero reading manuscript copies of the original New Testament documents.
Dr. Paul Meyer, professor of Ancient history in western Michigan University, disagrees. He claims that we now have a better idea of what the original manuscript said than ever before.
Dr. Paul Meyer: When it is just the opposite taking place. Despite the time that evolves here, we are getting a better and better reading of the original New Testament text than ever before. Why?
King James edition, 16/11, bases on six, biblical text. The revise version of 18/70, 2000 Greek texts. Today, scholars have this embarrassment of which is where by abide they have 5700 manuscripts in whole or I part against which textual critics, using very exacting rules, are able to get further and further back to the original readings.
John Rabe: Bart Ehrman claims that they are copying errors is true. But it is hardly the whole truth. Dr. Timothy Paul Jones, the professor of Southern Baptist Seminary explains.
Dr. Timothy: One of the main claims that Bart Ehrman makes, is he says this over and over and over, is he says, there are between 200,000 and 400,000 variants between all the new testament manuscripts, and he is pretty close correct on that. Then he goes on to say this that there are only 138,000 words in the Greek New Testament to begin with.
Now, what the listener , or the reader is left with at that point, is the impression of man if there are more manuscript differences, then there are all words in the Greek New testament, then the basis of that, we must not be able to rely on what the New Testament says.
But what Bart Ehrman does it clearly communicate to his listener, to his reader is simply this, more than 99% of those of the different variances, between the different manuscripts are not even noticeable in your English translation.
John Rabe: And here is one more fact, 99% of those variations on the manuscript involve differences in spelling or new one’s is in the Greek. These differences do not even translate beyond the Greek Language. The other 1% has no bearing on the central truth found in the New Testament about Jesus Christ.
