In youth baseball, you should never "square" to bunt the ball for numerous reasons. 1. If the batter steps on home plate with his foot he is out 2. Safety reasons as just like with a normal batting stance, you do not want to place the front of your body in harms way. The batter should basically pivot their back foot and rotate their shoulders and set the bat just in front of the plate. This is the way we have been taught for years and has been very successful.
