Shlomo Yaffe: Shalom, I am Shlomo Yaffe, one of the Rabbis at the Chabad at midtown on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, New York and this is…
Ben Yamin: Ben Yamin
Shlomo Yaffe: This is Ben Yamin and we are now going to demonstrate how to put on the Tallit. So we begin by inspecting the Tallit. We look at all the Sitsit which are those fringes there to make sure that there is eight of them on each of the four corners and that they are all properly separated. And now, we begin to get ready to say the Brakah.
Ben Ymin: (Reciting the Brakah)
Shlomo Yaffe: The blessing says to wrap yourself in that Sitsit and this is what he has done. He has wrapped himself with the Tallit and now he is putting it over her shoulders and this completes the process of putting on the Tallit. Different communities say different verses before and after they do this and the concept, the idea of the Tallit is that we wrap ourselves in Hashem’s love for us and in our commitment to surround ourselves with the will of the almighty that wherever we go, we are always surrounded in that light of the wisdom of the Torah that Hashem gives us and of the things that he asks us to do.
