If I have to recommend, one rod for ledgering, then it would be the multi tipped feeder rod. The multi tip feeder rod, as its name implies, comes with a selection of tips, of different strings to cover a multitude of applications when fishing on a ledger.
The ideal feeder rod is about 11 to 12 feet long. Reels for this type of rod needs to be slightly larger because we need to load the reel with 6 pound line for general fishing or maybe 10 pound line if we are fishing in areas where there are large cocks or large stench.
Now, we will look at the tip of this rod because when ledgering and of course, you do not use floats, your tail or bait indication is relying upon the fine tip that is inserted in the end. When the fish bites, the tip pulls and that is a registration for a bite.
Now to get the best registration, you need to set the rod up correctly on your rod stand and you need your rod around 45 to 90 degrees angle away from the actual bait that you are fishing with. This means that when the fish bites the bait, the rod will give a better indication and you will see the bite much easier. So, if you can only afford one of these rods, then I would go for the multi tipped feeder rod in my back every time.
