Lemon Thyme Bars

So I’m going to start with my lemon thyme bars which is dessert first. We’re going to
start with the dry ingredients 1 cup of flour to make sure that you measure the flour so
you get the right consistency for the dough. 1 cup of flour and ½ a teaspoon salt. So I’m
just mixing the flour and the salt together. Alright so to that we’re going to add 2
tablespoons of fresh thyme. Perfect, you can smell the wonderful aroma in there so mix
that together an the butter has got to be at room temperature so that its nice and soft and
get a nice fluffy texture from the butter or sugar. Mix all the difference and got that we’re
going to start creaming the butter and we’re going to add half a cup of powdered sugar
and the powdered sugar creates a lighter texture. Powdered sugar and let’s mix it
together.
Perfect, time for a little bit of lemon juice there we go okay we also need the half
teaspoon vanilla extract and kind of flavor it and make it smell really good, oh that rich
scent is so good everyone is going to love it and now let’s mix it all together and start
adding flour.
Now there’s a little trick to this I’m just going to put the dough in the center of my
buttered and floured baking dish here. There we go, get it all out and then we’re going to
wet our fingers because you kind of have to have wet fingers to spread the sticky dough
all over the bottom I’m just going to wet my fingers so now that we’ve spread it all out
we’re going to bake it 325 degrees for 30 minutes until its nice and golden brown so let’s
go to the oven.
While that bakes let’s make the glaze we’re going to do the rest of the lemon. I told you
we’re going to use a whole lemon Half in the crust, half in the glaze and half a cup of the
powdered sugar so all it is to make a glaze is a little bit of liquid and then sugar. And the
powdered sugar is the best one to use just because it dissolves very easily and all you do
is just whisk the 2 together and you got lemon glaze.
My lemon thyme bars are cooled completely, I got my lemon glaze just a lemon juice
earlier pour it right over the top I promise you this is the easiest dessert everybody ends
up loving it.
