Let Mother Nature Take the Lead with your Knock Out Roses

Many people kill their plants with kindness and one of the most frequent mistakes come in the fall of the year. I like to take a clue from Mother Nature; she’s been around for few years. The tidy gardener comes in and makes everything look pretty in the fall of the year but that’s not how Mother Nature does it. She doesn’t come in and prune plants and tidy everything up, she leaves litter on the ground and kind of waits for nature to take over. So when it comes to roses a lot of people want to uproot them back in the fall of the year, I advice against that for one thing you don’t know yet what state is dormant see the plants in. rose actually needs and lives on to function properly to develop the full state of dormancy. If you cut those canes back and cut of the leaves or even pull them off you are preventing the rose from going to its complete state of dormancy and it might not make it through the winter.

So the best way to winter protect low maintenance roses is to deep plant in the beginning, keep the roots on the ground and let mother take its course in the fall of the year.
