Female: Are you currently going through divorce or just coming out of one? Are you still suffering the effects of it years later? Professional coach Robert Silverstone shows us the importance of finding yourself before finding another relationship.
Robert Silverstone: So, somebody is just coming out of a divorce, which is one of the most stressful painful experiences that we can ever have in our lives. Probably ranks within the top three or four and it leaves us in some kind of a vacuum or void that we feel we need to fill in someway because the moment that we have had is almost as if we have a limb removed and now, there is a space where that was.
And for many of us, there is this tendency that wanted to lodge on the first thing that comes along, being another and draw that individual into our lives because we are replacing that missing link. Instead of doing that, which is—then creating another temporary experience, one of the things that is really important to do when coming out a divorce or any relationship is to get to know yourself again and to find ways to get to know who you really are.
To take the time necessary, to almost want to say became whole again. So, instead of finding a limb and attaching it, you grow another one from within.
