Well, so what the large Hadron Collider is it is called the HLC more familiarly. It collides to get two protons. So this underground rings, an underground ring, 27 kilometers in circumference. And what happens is the proton beams go around and they are accelerated by magnetic fields as they go around. And they go in opposite directions. There are two beam accelerate to extremely high energy, and then they collide together.
And when they collide together, constituents inside the protons become energy and that energy can turn into particles with mass because after all equal mc2 which is to say if you have a lot of energy, you cam make particles that have big mass.
And so the idea is to make particles that you would not have been able to seen before on earth because they are just heavier than things that would have been accessible to us. And by looking at what those particles are, whether their properties or the forces that apply on those scales, we are trying to understand what is happening in short of distances, what is happening at high energies. What are the more basic ingredients of matter, what are the more fundamental forces?
And so, one thing we are trying to find is called the hex particle which we talked about earlier which is associate particle inquiring their mass, but we are also trying to answer this big question about the hard-to-get problem, which might very well and tell notions such as super symmetry, which is an extension of space/time symmetry or even in space/time itself, that is just we discussed.
So and if it turns out these extra dimensional theories are right, there would be new particles called collusive prime particles. Particles that have mass because they travel in extra dimensions and it would be radical inside into the nature of our universe.
Kulzer was the first person who introduced the idea of extra dimension of physics in 1919, and he was trying to unify that the forces that were known then, which are only gravity and electromagnetism. And he proposed an extra dimension space to try and he realized Einstein’s theory allowed an extra dimension, and he tried to work out the consequences of the theory.
And Klein was the person who suggested that this extra dimension was tiny, it was rolled up, and that is why we do not see it.
So Klutz are time particles are named after him.
