Welcome to Common Man Cocktails, I’m your host Derrick Schommer and today we’re going to do the Loco Padre, tequila, frangelico. Every wants more frangelico so frangelico in the house. We’ve got a little maraschino liqueur. You know, what I’m not as impress with this as thought I would be.
It smells very vegetal and green it just taste I thought I could drink straight but that is not a straight style of drink and this is going to affect the strength but in a good way. We’re going to have some orange juice, we’re going to do two ounces of reposado, we’re using the Tres Generaciones Reposado, one of the contributors to our reprosado tasting we’ll do in a week or so. We got the Frangelico, we’re going to do a quarter of an ounce, we’re going to do an half ounce of the maraschino liqueur and we’re going to one and a half ounces of orange juice.
Cool and we’re going to shake them, we’re going them in an old fashion glass. We’ve got the Tres Generaciones glass that came with our bottle of Tres Generaciones and let’s get to going.
We’ll do first ice, I like ice. It’s hot we’ll use extra ice. All right, put that off there and we’ll measure out—I need something to measure with this, let us use this. We’re going to do two ounces of the reposado first. This is a good smelling reposado very, very good amount of flavor, just a nice balance of smooth flavors I like it. I’ll review that on EverydayDrinker.com so stay tuned for that.
We’ll do and ounce and a half of OJ, it seems like we’re always doing orange juice and tequila lately. We’ll do half ounce of maraschino liqueur. It’s thick, easy to measure, dump it in and we’ll do a quarter of an ounce of Frangelico. So for those out there going “I want more Frangelico” a quarter of an ounce will have to satisfy because it doesn’t take much for Frangelico to really kick in the high gear. There we go.
We’re going to shake that all up, a little water in here. Shake it. Entertainment value it’s what it is. There we go and it will not be complete without an orange slice. I’m a huge fan of orange so we’re just going to use a big fat little orange in here, dump it right in and let it float around inside there. Look how cool, there you go and almost like a pineapple juice because it’s so light, because it’s just a little bit of OJ compared to the two ounces. You’ve got a higher degree warning, you’ve got a higher degree of tequila than you have of orange juice. Not always something you see, so you’re going to get a little extra kick out of this. This should be about 40% alcohol light volume. A little of this is going to be a little bit strong.
Smells like reposado meets maraschino. This is a drink for tequila fans, tequila of champions the Loco Padre is very tequila centric. I like reposado so I’m using the reposado a little buttery, peanut butter nut thing going on. It got some sweet but organic style maraschino. Definitely it’s still refreshing you get your little OJ in there.
Overall good drink for tequila fans if you're fan of reposado, you're not a huge fan of reposado like the silver is not the reposado. So if you want to bring it down use the silver instead. If you're a fan but maybe your spouse or your friends are not your can just switch the different types of tequila to suit your needs.
So that’s your Loco Padre. This is our sponsor, Tito’s Handmade American Vodka, best vodka you’re going to find for the price times three. I mean you can go out, you could spend $28.00 to get some high marketed value vodka if you want to. It’s going to have a fancy bottle with cool displays inside of it, magnifications and ducks and gooses and whatever you want to put on there; sticker, plastic cap cheap price great quality, they're all about what’s in the bottle not necessarily about what the bottle looks like.
So check that out, you should be able to find that in your retail stores at least in the United States, I’m not sure about elsewhere I’ll check up on that. I’m your host Derrick Schommer and we’re teaching you how to drink.
