Losing Weight with Interval Training

Rhiannon: Here’s something that should put a smile on your face. Andrea is
answering your fitness questions in today’s ask Andrea.
Andrea Metcalf: (Better Fitness Expert)From our viewer email this week. It says,
“Andrea, how many calories do I burn if I jog for 45 minutes I’m 5”5’ and
148 pounds.” Well it’s really hard for me to tell you that unless I know the
speed in which you’re going. What maybe a job for you maybe a run for
me. Overall if you’re walking for about an hour in 150 pounds you’ll burn
about 300 calories and wanting about 500 but the best thing to do is
interval training alternating that run and walk.
Not only there’s interval turning burn more calories than just a steady state
movement but your fat burning ability afterwards has been increased and
new research shows us that that’s really the best way to train 30 minutes a
day, 5 days a week. Here’s another question “Andrea I’m a 51-year-old
diabetic and I’ve been sitting inside all winter long and it has take a toll on
my waistline. I come to realize that I can’t even walked down the block
without being winded so how do I get started on an exercise program.”
Well anyone could get started something as simple as walking. If you’re
really overweight you may want to try walking in the pool especially with
the great weather out behind us. Remember, walking 10 minutes a day can
make a difference and incremental exercise meaning 10 minutes in the
morning 10 minutes at lunch and 10 minutes at night can really help you
burn those calories, build up your endurance and reduce that waistline.
I’m Andrea Metcalf please send me your questions at Ask Andrea and I’d
be happy to answer any health, fitness, or diet related questions if I don’t
know the answer I’ll find someone who does. Check us out at Better
