Yeah, I am doing my Fourth of July Independence Day LouTube and I am wondering if I should go with the fireworks or the flag for background. Yeah. Yeah, well. Yeah, I trust you, yeah of course. But yeah, yes. Yeah, I remember Agent. So, what do you say? Do you want me to do the whole thing in black and white now? No? Okay. Well, I think I will just go with the flag. Okay Marty, have a good holiday. Thanks, bye! Bye-bye!

Hi! Welcome to LouTube. Your weekly quick look at cool web tools, tips and trends. And this week, for those of us in the US, it is almost Independence Day, Fourth of July, so I got my patriotic graphics cooking back there. One most common question I get is what is my favorite Video Hosting Site. I mean there is so many of them. Everybody knows about YouTube and uses that. But this VideoEgg and Blip TV and Veoh and Repent, AOL video and Dailymotion and Medic Café and Hellcats in MySpace in Brooklyn; oh men! There are just so many video sites.
So, with so many video sites out there, I thought it would be kind of cool to do a side by side comparison of some of the more popular ones and show you some of the features, some of the pros and cons. So, this week we are going to pit YouTube against Blip.tv to see which one is the winner of the best video hosting site.
Okay. So, in this corner we have the eight hundred pound gorilla and reigning champion, YouTube. Now, YouTube is pretty much everybody’s favorite site. It does the job. It has been around for a while and here are all my videos if you want to go to one of my more recent ones. You could see that it got a pretty decent interface and it shows you some of the other stuff in my series; obviously has the embed code. It has the link that you can send approach right here. So, these are some sharing options.
You can send the video to MySpace or Facebook. Also, send it to somebody’s sites like StumbleUpon. You can email it to somebody obviously. So, you know, it is pretty decent. The interface is not bad. It looks okay. The upload process is not too painful. It is just really a two or three step process when you are uploading video. It is not that difficult. But, you know, I have been using YouTube for a long time and was looking for a change. So, I have also been using Blip.tv for quite a while and now I am going to jump over there and see how that stacks up against YouTube.
Okay. So, now we are over at Blip.tv and this is – when I login this is what I get. So, you got my latest video right there on the screen, really nice attractive interface. All of my other videos are on the right hand column here so I can jump to those at any given moment. And as far as I am concerned, the quality is just better on Blip.tv than YouTube. Maybe they do not compress it as much but I just think it is a lot clearer and a lot nicer looking. Now, you go to your episode archive here and you could see all of you episodes. And the other cool thing that I really like about Blip.tv is that they got all these cool sharing options. So, obviously you can share by email. But you can also share by cross-posting to your blog. You can jump it on to Delicious or Digg or Facebook or MySpace. So, this new cool ways to share your video here that it is – there you go bring to right to Facebook. I mean that it is very easy to distribute your video from Blip tv.
As I said, you can also embed it and maybe go to special embed code just for WordPress if you happen to use WordPress blog. There it is. Just like that, nice and easy. For I like to share options here, just because they give you a lot of options and you can go back to your dashboard and go to distribution and see even more places where you can cross-post it to. So, these guys really give you pretty good launching pad for your video. And you can base on just the overall look and feel of the video on Blip.tv, I would have to give this round to Blip.tv. So, that is why I have made t
