Male: This is Mcduff Bar and Grill at Norman’s Cay Ecuma. We just pulled out of the beach and jumps off and we go in to some speed.
Our family has been here since the late 1700’s. We’re part of the original loyalist that landed in the Bahamas actually in Eleuthera and in Abaco. And that’s kind of where they settled late 19—early 1920’s, tourism started to boom in Nassau and so there was a mass migration of people moving from the Eleuthera and Abaco for work. We have our grandfather is pretty much the person who is responsible for as he getting into the business and learning a lot about the water. He was actually a former captain of the Duke of Windsor and growing up we heard stories and traveling around the islands, he showed us a lot of what the water is about.
Female: Thank you. Oh I love your boat.
Oh my gosh! The wildlife out here is amazing.
Male: We are actually located at Leaf Cay we’re about 30 miles south east of Nassau.
Female: Okay.
Male: And chain of island called the Exumas, these are South American rock iguanas and really the true way to see the Bahamas is by boat and to come out and experience the island and so what we’re going to do is that you can see we call this our Jurassic park.
Female: Oh, my gosh.
Male: And we’re going to take you the shore, give you a stick and some grapes and let you feed the iguanas.
Female: All right, oh my goodness.
Male: Did you see that?
Female: Oh, I can't believe it.
Male: The story behind it is that you know the Bahamas was famous for its piracy and pirates used to like to eat this.
Female: Okay.
Male: And somewhere around here they think that a pirate ship sank and these guys swam ashore.
We’re actually at an area called Saddleback Cay. It’s part of a bank system and it shifts during the year. It’s been here for quite a while back in the old Bahamas maps they had used to number the islands and it’s actually a numbered island. But during the year it kind of keeps its formation but it shifts back and forth. As you can see through a shallow you can walk along the shore and put your fingers into the sand and come up with these nice white sand dollars. This is by far almost popular spot when it comes to our guests, they get here and like “You know what I don’t want to move, there sis no place better than this so let's just stay here for the day”.
