Anthony Caporale: Welcome to the Art of the Drink. My name is Anthony Caporale and we are working again with Stephanie. How are you?
Stephanie: Good, how are you?
Anthony Caporale: Good. Alright, this week we are going to do a really, really hot drink, this is called a Lychee Martini. I am doing this by request. This is for Heather out at Howcast.com. Really, really hot drink, especially in New York City. It is a drink that is a flavored with lychee which is a type of fruit that comes off of a tree native to china, evergreen tree native to china.
So this is a martini, we are going to go ahead and build it in our tin. Take a scoop of ice in the tin and one-and-a-half ounces of lychee liqueur and we are going to add to that one ounce of citrus vodka. At this point I would like to just brighten the flavors up with a little fresh lemon. I am just going to roll my lemon, save this half for you and the juice of one half full lemon in there, and then this, shake it till the tin froths. Then this get strained into my martini glass and the garnish on this is a lychee, and that goes right in and there we have our lychee martini. Want to get that a try?
Stephanie: Yeah, let's go.
Anthony Caporale: Alright. Each week our Art of the Drink video podcast price package will consist of a Maker's Mark apron, a copy of my Art of the Drink volume one bar essentials DVD and a limited edition version of that special touch, a Maker's Mark cookbook not available in stores. You got it.
Stephanie: Scoop of ice in the tin, ounce-and-a-half of lychee.
Anthony Caporale: Ounce-and-a-half of lychee.
Stephanie: Half ounce?
Anthony Caporale: One ounce of citrus vodka.
Stephanie: One ounce.
Anthony Caporale: Nice.
Stephanie: And?
Anthony Caporale: Squeeze the fresh lemon.
Stephanie: Right, right, you had it ready for me.
Anthony Caporale: Yeah.
Stephanie: I have to squeeze well.
Anthony Caporale: Don't worry too much about getting seeds in there because the strainer is going to catch most of them.
Stephanie: That's good idea, now we shake it.
Anthony Caporale: Shake it up. Very nice.
Stephanie: Thank you. Strain it.
Anthony Caporale: Perfect!
Stephanie: Oh, check that out.
Anthony Caporale: We will go it for.
Stephanie: Taught by the master, and we add the lychee.
Anthony Caporale: Your lychee garnish. Load up on a cocktail napkin and that is our Lychee Martini, so you're going to try.
Stephanie: Let's go.
Anthony Caporale: Solid.
