MacBook Pro 2.4GHz - Review - Part 2/2
Hey, guys. Here is part two. Sorry for that sudden chop there. I hope it’s not too long but I want to try it and be thorough and show you guys as much as I could of my first couple of days. Enjoy the part two.
It’s a great browser, having any problem a little bit. I just like Firefox. A program called iChat. It’s built-in. It’s a messaging client. It has got support for AOL and all the other IM clients. It’s also what you use if you want to use the built-in iSight here for video chat. Address book, it’s an address book, iTunes, you all know iTunes and if you don’t subscribe and have this computer. iPhoto for importing all your photos very cool, if you have any questions by the way about these programs is you want me get into more detail, let me know and I can get to more detailed about the program themselves.
iMovie HD which actually what I'm using to make all this and trying to learn to really use it actually. You import the movie and you can just convert it to other file and you want and upload it. iDVD for making DVD’s. Garage band for making your own music and editing some music tracks and again all the stuff comes with the computers and you turn on and it’s there. I didn’t pack for any of this. iWeb for making websites, calendar, dictionary, I'm not going to explain that, QuickTime, Photo Booth is actually really cool. There are IM and there are UR with some of the effects that you can do. It’s kind of neat black and white, sepia, normal and whatever you want. You can take pictures, take some videos whatever kind of neat, say, “Hi, guys”. There you are.
All right, we can close that up. iMails or mail it’s obviously mail and now some of the stuff that I downloaded. I did not buy the Microsoft Office 2004 because it’s not optimized for the Intel processor. It runs a little leggy. Some of the weight into Microsoft releases the actual new version of Microsoft Office ’07. They’re selling out in November. So you're probably saying “Well, what I'm going to use for Word processing?”
People send me word documents all the time, what am I going to use? It is just really programs called the NeoOffice. It is version of Open Office and totally free too. They really are lifesavers, so let me open up for you guys and show you just real quickly what it is. It is a quicker program down says opens up, here’s NeoOffice and then it load itself all up here and now I'm in a Word processing program, full Word processing just like you’d find in Word or anything else. You can actually save in Word format. You can open Word documents. It’s really handy.
Then you're going to say, “Well, I use Excel. What am I going to do without Excel?” Well there is a spreadsheet and just like the text editing lets you import and write in a Word formats. This lets you write in Excel format and you can just put .Excel and there are some fully functional spreadsheet program and very handy as well. Maybe you would say “Well I use PowerPoint a lot.” Well, there’s a presentation here that does the same thing. You get to jest, OpenOffice very cool, works like it would work on any PC or anything, a great program, highly recommended.
I do not want to save changes. You just quit out of your border, discard so that’s OpenOffice. I also downloaded an IM program just to give it a shot. It keep recommended called Adium. I open up my applications folder actually I drag to the dock and if you right click it, it opens it up like a start menu in Windows with just more intuitive for me. Build an IM client just like you find of AIM. If you access you can actually use for anything. So anyway here are my buddies and all that stuff. So that’s Adium, very cool.
Now, I'm extremely, extremely impressed with how fast this computer is, two gigabytes of RAM. It seems to be plenty. I'm going to upgrade anyway just to have it at some point but two gig. This thing blistering fast, check the other videos. It loads up with less than 25 seconds. Even with all the programs up and running and let me open everything for you. I think its already open iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, Garage band, iWeb, I don’t know, let's open the Office too.
So as it is apparent everything is open here, all of the programs that I have on my computer are now open and it’s just blistering fast. I mean, check it out. I think it’s loading up here. I mean you can see how fast this thing is loading. It is amazing. There is plenty of RAM actually that handy widget before with all that stuff open, I still have almost a gig free of RAM which is really unbelievable that I have heard of. So far I'm extremely happy with the computer. There's really hasn’t been that much of an adaptation to getting used to using OS X. I highly recommend switching like I'm sure a lot of you out there that was deciding between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro and I went with the Pro because I keep computers for five years they want to have something that I knew was going to be future proof.
MacBook is still a great computer and you can get a great option that’s a great site to go for. So you know what everything open in your Excel with all these programs up and running, I'm going to install parallels and get Windows on here and I’ll show you guys that a little later but I just highly, highly, highly recommend switching over to OS X. I haven’t looked back at all.
So as always if you guys have any questions let me know, any comments let me know anything you guys want to see. I got a lot of request to showing some games. I don’t really play games on here. I have an Xbox and a Wii for that but I will try and get some games on here so you guys can see them and see how fast they work with the processors. So that’s some of the things I learned about OS X. I have been using OS X for I will keep this short because YouTube is going to cut me off. I will be posting some more videos in the future. So anyway guys, hope you enjoy it and talk to you guys soon, bye.
