Interviewer: Welcome Dominic to the exposed show here on Macworld expo 2009.
Dominic: Thank you.
Interviewer: And you are with ambrosia?
Dominic: Yes, ambrosia software.
Interviewer: Right and here, what are you talking about today here?
Dominic: I am talking about a product called Wiretap Anywhere.
Interviewer: Okay.
Dominic: It is an audio utility for professionals to take audio output from one program and make that an audio input into a recording program.
Interviewer: So, you are creating virtual audio sources basically?
Dominic: Yes, you could call them a virtual audio device or a virtual microphone.
Interviewer: I see, so, may you explain a little bit of work load. So for example, with us, we have a Podcast that we normally use our audio Hi-tech pro to capture.
Dominic: Okay.
Interviewer: The source into because it captures from Skype. What you are telling me now with Wiretap Anywhere is I can actually capture directly to that into Soundtrack Pro?
Dominic: Absolutely. That is the value. The value is you can record directly into your editing program of choice.
Interviewer: Right.
Dominic: And whatever that maybe, instead of using a separate program to the recording.
Interviewer: Okay. So now, you can show us a little bit of what is the whole process.
Dominic: Okay. Well, if you take a look here, we have Wiretap Anywhere as a system preference and this is where we configure what we call virtual devices.
Interviewer: Right.
Dominic: Now, I have one setup called All System Audio that is going to create virtual microphone that is going to capture all the audio that the computer plays.
Interviewer: Right.
Dominic: But we are not too interested in that and we are going to go ahead and run through the Skype example.
So, we are going to add the microphone that we are going to use. In this case, we will just add the built in microphone. And now, we are going to go ahead and launch Skype. Now, we go back to Wiretap Anywhere and we are going to add Skype to the source. So now, we have created a device for capturing Skype.
Interviewer: So this is a physical audio device or a virtual audio device?
Dominic: It is a virtual device. It is going to show up like any other hardware item.
Interviewer: (Voice overlap) pro where I go to choose devices, this would be one of the devices.
Dominic: Right.
Interviewer: Now, how do they come in in a separate channel or they come in as one?
Dominic: These will come in mixed together as stereo.
Interviewer: How do we make it as separate channel so that way I can edit you know the host versus the guest?
Dominic: If we go into the settings here, we can change the mixing option from stereo to off.
Interviewer: Right.
Dominic: And now, we are going to get separate channels for each of this. So, Skype is now stereo.
Interviewer: They are not mix.
Dominic: They are not mix and the microphone is now mono. Now, I do not have soundtrack problem here but I am going to use Garage Band.
Interviewer: Alright.
Dominic: Alright.
Interviewer: Principle is the same.
Dominic: So now, in Garage Bands, we are going to go ahead to choose the Wiretap Skype Audio Input and let us add one track and we will add one more track. Now, in Garage Band, we can choose to capture the first two channels as one and the second two channels and to the other track. And now, we have one person from Skype on one track and your self completely separated in another track.
Interviewer: And that means that now, when I run Skype in my microphone, I literally record directly into this?
Dominic: You record directly into Garage Band.
Interviewer: I am now recording like I do now which I record into Audio Hi-tech Pro, take those files and then put them into soundtrack.
Dominic: There is no need for a completely separate program and the work flow is extremely streamlined now.
Interviewer: Yes, it is. How much do this cost?
