Madison: Still on Track

Hi! This is Cindy Schwalb for Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. Here to show you our seventh best city for 2009. Well, our roads lead to Madison’s Downtown Capital hit to be exact. The brains behind this economy light the other end of states tree. Just a short stroll to the University of Wisconsin it’s here that Dr. James Thomson drive the first embryonic stem cell. Now, 10% of the nation’s BioIndustry firms are here with more to follow as the city breaks ground on the institutes of discovery complex. Just take a pick at this rendering. But there’s information tack in town too. Google open offices here late 2008 right after Microsoft open its University based down a lot. Hungry for more? I crashed the charity cooked up hosted by My Menu a boutique frozen foods start up approaching its one year anniversary. Even Ms. Wisconsin gives these burgers a thumbs up but to really get a taste of Madison head to the farmer’s market the Willy Street Co-op are farm fresh restaurants like Peppino’s and the old Washington coffee house. At Union terrace waterfront, you can sip your way through many regional micro-burgers. Just remember to keep your car parked. Madison is one of the easiest cities to navigate on two wheels. We spotted Bicycle’s President John Burke pictured medal giving city officials a test run of the first annual bike tour today set to launch this summer. In Madison, you’ll never know who you’ll meet as you take to the trails.
