Hey buddy, I am Rocco Castellano here. And today, I want to talk about something that I get a lot of e-mails about, and it's about water consumption. And, no matter what, I have to tell you the body needs to be hydrated. Every single chemical reaction in the body needs water to create the chemical reaction. If you don't have enough water in your body, then your body's systems slow down.
So I just want to give you a couple of little tips about our water consumption and that's really it, I am not going to bore you to death with all the scientific shit, what I am going to do is, I am going to tell you, when you are trying to take in water, you want to try to take in at least a third of your body weight in ounces. So that means, if you are a 150 pounds, you want to take in at least 50 ounces of water per day, just solid raw food, and then when you can't, I want you to work your way up to take it in about half of your body weight in ounces. So if you weight a 150 pounds, obviously do the math, and that will be 75 ounces per day.
That will keep you adequately hydrated. Something else, here is something that most people don't really tell you about and that is, that whenever you drink something caffeinated or you drink alcohol, you need to replace whatever those ounces that you took in like coffee, if you drink a cup of coffee and that's 12 ounces, you need to take in twice that beverage in ounces. So a 12 ounce glass or a cup of coffee, you want to take in 24 ounces more of water per day. So if you are taking in like 10 cups of coffee, do the math, that's an extra like 40 ounces of water that you have to take in. So, you probably want to limit your coffee consumption.
Also when you are drinking alcohol, because caffeine and alcohol are diuretics, so they basically rob your systems of water. So, if you are going to go out and have a few beers or some wine or a couple of shots of tequila, you want to make sure that you are taking in double the – or something like, if you don't want to crazy, to every beer that you have, have the same in ounces. So a 12 ounce beer, have 12 onces of water. Have another beer, have 12 ounces. I would really like to take in, like twice that, 12 ounces to 24 ounces water, but you know what, who am I to ask you for such crazy favors? So think about it, okay. Coffee, beer, alcohol, you want to double your water, on top of the water that you are already taking in.
Okay, so to began a third of your body weight in ounces, graduate to a half your body weight in ounces, and then any type of a diuretic alcohol or caffeine, soda, you want to take in double the amount of ounces. Alright till next time, Rocco Castellano, askroccoblood.com.
