Lucy McCausland: Hi! I am Lucy McCausland from a.k.a Spot, we are a dog store in
Arlington, Virginia and we are here today to talk about how to dress your
dog for Halloween. This segment is to make your own category and
typically some people don’t want to wear a store bought costume because
there is a lot more creative stuff out there as you can see. If you make your
own, as these guys have, you are sure in for a prize.
So, I am here today with Sandra and Sabrina, this is Chance, and this is
Juranamo and Jessica, and what we have got going on here is Sabrina is in
the cutest little witch outfit you ever see, she just is adorable in this and
Juranamo is in the cowboy outfit and this was made from a moccasin kit,
and then here we have Chance and this is the little sailor, and these guys
are part of the village people outfit that you might see in another segment.
Anyway, the main thing to do when you make your own is sort of follow
the same procedures as in the store bought costumes. They have to be able
to move freely. There can’t be any part of the costume that constricts or
binds the dog.
You also need to make sure that you are able to have the same control
over the dog as you would on a normal walk. So, go ahead and put the
costumes on and then do your harnesses, your collars, or leads and go for a
dry run around the block and see if the costume is going to work for the
length of the parade.
You also want to make sure that the dog can do all the same bodily
functions it needs to without the costumes such as drink, pee, et cetera,
and you can see these guys look pretty happy in these outfits. So, whatever
you do, use your creativity and go out and enjoy the parade and that’s how
you make your own.
