I will start of with this piece of felt and a pattern and I cut it a little bit larger around leaving the bottom attached. It just makes it easier to saw it or glue it together and of course I clip it inside out. I do not want to see the black of the marking lines.
Then what I do is, I like to sew it around to just make it sturdy and keeps it together, gluing it gets a little messy. I sewed it all the way around except I leave the top open. Then, I cut other felt another little strip and I glue it together and I glue it then to the inside of the bootie. That is to hang it up. It is a little hanger.
You sometimes get those little glue threads so I just sort of pull them off. Then you get some either cotton padding or if you have some nice ribbon, anything like that would look nice at the top of the bootie. We will hide some of the sewing, if you have some little stray threads or something and it just makes look like a little dress here.
Then I get some glitter glue, your choice of color, whatever and I go along where I sewed. If you happened to zigzag a little bit, it hides some of it and it actually just dresses up the bootie, makes it look prettier.
And then I get another color of glitter glue and you can write the person’s name on it. That is what I thought would be nice. It is a very personal ornament and it just looks nice on there. The bootie is left open on top so you can actually put something on it like candy canes, or candies, or even a lottery ticket.
Then you get either some berries, I have a lot of those things, so I just snip a little bit off, attach it on to the back, sort of embellishes where the hanging up ties. Again you get the stringing glue and I have done this actually, I should have waited for it to dry a little bit but just to save time I did it this way. Normally you would wait, you would make upon to these up but before you embellish it, you would wait until all the glitter glue is dry so that you do not make a mess.
And you can put something on the back. You can put a ribbon on the back. I like to put the pine cones. Sometimes what might be a little bit better would be, if you had some very thin wire and wire the pine cones and the berry together. You could do it that way and then glue it all together on there. It just makes a little prettier. If I had all that on there, I would even put a little bow and you can decorate the back if you want to. As I said I was just on sort of saving time.
But there is your finished product and you can put something on the inside and there is a very personal little Christmas tree bootie.
