In response to my fake languages video I received a message from someone who asked in part. I was wondering how you speak fake Spanish, is it hard to do? Are there tricks, such as more consonant sound et cetera? Now, a lot of this is kind of instinctive for me but I think if I were to boil it down, there are two secrets to being able to speak a fake language. And these are probably intuitive. Anyway, the first is actually having some passing knowledge with the language itself, how structured the kinds of leathers used, the ways in which they are used, the ways words interrelate with one another now. I cannot speak Spanish. I am familiar enough with it though from TV from movies and things, make up crappy phrases like (Made up Spanish words) Now, I cannot hold on a conversation with someone who speaks Spanish though. The second key is to be able to get the accent right. The flow and sound of how the line is spoken. So if you can do, say a Mexican flash Spanish accent, you are just going to make up some fake Spanish and record it and put it on the internet, don’t you have anything to do man. Number one, familiarity with the language and number two, familiarity with the accent. I made up some more fake Spanish in addition to some of the original fake Spanish so I will lean back for subtitles. (Made up Spanish words) Now, I think it also if you can talk fast. If you can nail the fake words, if you can nail the accent, if you can talk real fast then you’ve got a descent chance of actually fooling someone like you can talk the language. Now I am sitting here with a script in front of a camera. I don’t know if I would be able to pull it off in real life, in front of a person but there you go, fake Spanish, a kind of ganky introduction to speaking it. Last of all, if you know anyone who can speak English and would be willing to speak some fake English, please tape them, put it up on YouTube. We got to hear what it sounds like. Thank you.
