Thank you! I've been looking everywhere for a recipe to make wasabi from horseradish, but I kept coming across recipes that used the powdered or tubed stuff (even an apparent "chef" used the powder in a video recipe, disgusting!)

Wasabi.. is something VERY VERY hard to grow. So this is a way to do the wasabi.. but it's very rare, since a little piece of wasabi cost more than gold, I dont think you will buy that. This is why everyone use powder wasabi.. just add water and stir!

What a rip-off. I waited for this video to download to make a good batch of wasabi and all I got was a little blob of schredded japanese horseradish. My husband eats this on EVERYthing, I'm looking for a cost-effective recipe for a bigger quantity.

Making Wasabi

Speaker: This is a Japanese horseradish. I am using that fresh wasabi because this has a lot of flavor; sweet, milder, then less spices. But the most of the places are using that powder, this is artificial. I am using that real wasabi. We have to grind, I have to grind up horseradish. This is a Japanese horseradish.
