The fish board that I shape was a five four. I have a lot of fun, something like really small, short, board. So, I thought that if I can make a board that was shorter, but still aren’t really fast, it's just be way fun.
I got a template by blending a couple of curves the friend of mine had.
I have shaky hands, so I can't do like—waves that wand at all, so I have this big, gigantic old Rockwell skill saw that my dad gave me. I'm like, “Oh, this is rad! I can cut my—I'm with this big tool,” it makes me feel pretty good about myself. I think it's cool. And it cuts the outline so well.
Skateboarders makes this concave decks, you know so that they could do their foot tricks with the greatest of ease, because the boards are just sitting right there underneath the – they could just do whatever they want, so it's like, “Well, why the heck don’t we us surfers do that, so we can get the leverage we need by pushing in something that’s right there, instead of like trying to grip of the old surface, to get to turn the other way. So I scooped out the whole the deck.
The bottom contour, what it is, it's like a tapering concave, it's the widest of the tail. It's like tip to tip at the tail and then tapers towards the nose and it runs all the way to the nose. It's almost like an line sort of bottom influence, where you have like a concave at the center of your board and two rolls on either side. And like mixed with a blend of kind of a lot of lacquer, so it has like a really quick turn transition, really fast lively feeling to it, when you have a way with a bit of pocket. It's an easy board, just to lay over on rail and it's fun.
