Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host Derrick Schommer and today we’re going to do the Malibu Crunch. This is a recipe submitted by Sluger1983 on YouTube. Thank you, Sluger1983 or just Sluger for short or 19.
This going to have a little vodka so were going undress our Tito’s this week and we’re going to put in some pineapple juice, not all of that pineapple juice, by the way. I’m just keeping it measured up. A little splash of 7 Up to kind of top it off, coconut rum. We’re using Cruzan coconut rum cracking into this again. I think we’ve used it once on the show so far. And that’s really very simple ingredients, kind of simple and again this is another drink I have yet to taste. I kind to like to keep it surprise, but considering the ingredients, I’m not really worried.
So let’s get measuring. What we’re going to do is an ounce of our vodka, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, a half ounce of coconut rum. We’re going to use one ounce of pineapple juice. We’re going to throw it all in a high ball glass like that we got over here. Also question for you, I keep forgetting to ask, what you think of absinthe? Do you drink absinthe? Do you use absinthe in cocktails? Would you like us to use absinthe in the cocktails? Because I’ve got some absinthe now and I’m working on figuring out how to get some reviews, all sort of stuffs.
So, I’m curious if people use it or not because I’ve never done it before and there’s always a time to start. So, we do an ounce of vodka. What am I doing? That’s not right at all. We’re going to put this and shake it, there we go. We get a little extra vodka to really chill it out in there. It can’t be perfect all the time. We’ll do a half ounce. I love the smell of coconut, an ounce of pineapple juice. And we’ll do the top of 7 Up after you’ve done a shake.
As that seems too wise this course of action. Get in on there good, shake it up. We got ourselves a drink right here. I bet you anything, I don’t see it but I bet you it’s going to come out in a yellowier color. Oh, wow, I think I’m wrong. This is kind of yellowier, right? Is that yellow, it kinds of looks like lemonade. Crack open a little 7 Up, pour that right in there which is refreshing just looking at it.
I think the bubbles makes thing looks refreshing, smells like lemon-lime-coconut. I like it. Not bad, it’s good, good break coconut, a little pineapple. The pineapple kind of gives it a little tropical feel. But there’s not a ton of pineapple asked taste that I mentioned. I didn’t taste any vodka. It’s slightly dangerous, let me try it again, there’s going to be vodka there.
No I can’t taste any. That’s actually pretty good especially if you’re not huge fans of vodka. You don’t like the taste of vodka. Tito’s of course, is really smooth. So, it hides itself well in a cocktail. You could drink it straight too if your into vodka straight. Overall, I’m going to say this is a really coconut stuff flavor. If you like coconut tropical drinks, this isn’t a bad choice. It may also depend on the type but the Cruzan coconut striking it comes right through. You can use a more subtle coconut flavor or liquor or liqueur whatever rum and you’ll get something slightly maybe not as intense. The 7 Up lightens it up a little bit. So, there you go, that is your Malibu Crunch. I think you could use a little can of decaffeinated stuff, the Red Bull. Red bull in here might actually be also kind of tasty, full of floated little Red Bull in there, a Red Bull action, there you go. That’s the Malibu Crunch.
