Hi welcome and to this gear review for guitarlessons.com. We’re going to be taking a
look at the DCX1E it’s the Martin Acoustic-Electric kind of waves that kind of an entry
level one for them and that’s got what they call an HPL back insides on it that’s part of
what makes it entry level and so achieve it’s 699 that’s week in expected pay like street
price for this guitar and HPL what that means is high pressure laminate and I forgot the
exact percentages but it’s a part wood— and part wood put in a bunch of pressure and it
ends up kind of always like what you can tell it’s printed on there but in that film like for
Micah.
Feel like a countertop so it’s pretty durable and stands up to temperature changes pretty
well and it’s less expensive than you were with so for you purist out there who want a
real guitar it might not be for you but for you guys who want something with Martin
name on it that’s not going to be over a 1000 bucks this is a really good option for you.
The top on this guitar is thickened spurce solid top on it which is great that’s partially
why this guitar sounds good from 700 bucks has a lot of low end to it really nice sound
because it’s a solid wood top.
And I’m teaching you a trick when you’re going to shop for acoustic guitars the way you
can tell if it’s a solid top or not. Just follow the grain, check the grain on the top for
whatever you’re looking at and look at it and make sure that it cuts all the way down to
the bottom. If it does it’s a solid top guitar and if it stops and looks kind of like a
sandwich or it’s painted over just looks kind of fishy it’s probably laminated and you can
expect to get kind of a quieter sound that’ probably going to be a little bit more of lonely
guitar. Anyways this guitar comes like a set of electronics on it and this got a— and it’s
really, really a pretty good sounding Amp on this guitar and my favorite thing is that
comes with a tuner so no matter where you are as long as you get your battery in you’ll
be in tune.
You have to carry an out bore tuner or you might have to have a clip on it. I like though
about this guitar. Bit Pros it’s a Martin really love that. Sounds really big for a guitar
around this price range, you can be hard pressed to find a guitar that sounds bigger than
this in this like $6 or $700 price range. The neck on this guitar, you could see it’s
plywood and you could think, oh my God plywood what’s up with that. It’s one thing
that’s really cool about it is this really strong less expensive to make than a neck with
solid wood too and the fret board is kind of like the HPL.
It’s an odd completely wood is some kind of lime light I figured what they call it. It’s not
some of the way either but it still sounds really good. So if you’re looking for a guitar
that has a big sound electronics cut away so you can get up high this is a really good
option for you. If you’re looking for a guitar that’s all solid wood and your— you don’t
want anything then you can possibly turn your thing like that. You might not dig this
guitar as much but if you’re one of those people I dare you to go pick one up and play it
and shut your eyes and then see what you can practice doing.
