Well, we are making some progress and that I am getting more and more excited. The windows are finally going in, and you know what? It really made this house look different. No longer is it this big cavernous space. The holes are filled with these gorgeous windows, and they close and open so easily. Now, these have been designed so we can take advantage of the outdoors. You know, we are always trying to blur the lines between inside and out. But, what you have here is a double-hang window, so I can pull the upper sash down, and get some great ventilation in the house.
You may say, “Well, so that is great, what about bugs and other things that are outside?”
Well, we are going to have traditional screens on the windows, and the screening is a copper screen, that is easy to look through. It is going to look great!
Our project architect, Ward Lile is on the jobsite the other day, when our window expert John Kirchner, stopped by to check in on the installation.
Let us listen to him.
Ward Lile: John, one of the windows I am most excited about, is this giant guy here, this period window martens, than I sneer a cite lines or excellent.
John Kirchner: They fit perfectly fit the style of the home. They just work seamlessly with everything that they are trying to do with the design.
Ward Lile: Yes and then also just from the interior, how you do not have any vandals, sash line are showing you, because of added this wood fillers strip. And also, this big fat window seal is just so period perfect.
John Kirchner: It gives a lot of dimension to the window, provides the great view of the old oak tree on front here, so that is fantastic.
Ward Lile: Yes, it is funny that you mention the big oak tree, but because the two things that were the inspiration, when we started designing this house for that big tree, and trying to center the house on it, and have the view of it. And our window from our period house, we were using it as our inspiration for the style of the house and all the details of the house. So, those are the two big-driving forces on this project.
: Let us set it apart from the traditional old-double hang window.
John Kirchner: The tilt future. It is pretty simple process. You simply open a lock clever, tilt the window in and allow homeowners easy access to clean the outside of the window very quickly.
