I want to go a little bit more into details on how you can find out what is the best massage table. In regards to the face rest, I prefer a separate attachable face rest, not just a hole in the table. The reason why I do not like it is that a face rest usually needs more cushioning so the hole on the table can be quite uncomfortable. Make sure that the face rest outlets are secured properly. Some people like to adjust the angle of the face rest. I like a simple straight face rest better.

Throughout my career it happened twice that one of these adjusting systems snapped with a client on the table. It can be super dangerous. The only adjustable thing you need is the foam. Usually it is attached with – so you can change it for the different size faces. In terms of the leg adjustment, I prefer a true knob system with actual screws. This is the safest and if you are not sharing the table with somebody else on a regular basis or you have to change the table height all the time then this system should work for you.

Important to know about a specific table is also the weight and size. If you have to carry it a lot or if you have a small frame, you might want to consider a lighter table. If you have a massage parlor, just go with something heavier. Two things in connection with carrying are the handles and the width of the table. Make sure that the table has reinforced padded handles. When you hold the table in an upright position, make sure that the table clears the floor otherwise you will get a sore back when you have to carry it.

The basic check for the table, check the handles, the firmness, the leg adjustment system, that it has a cable locking system, the head rest, and then of course the over all quality of the product. For this make sure that the cover does not have any holes and also check on the bottom if the staples that hold the cover are put in properly. Then check the quality of the hinges by pushing down in the middle of the table, always also check under the table to see if the hinges are properly attached. Then push down on each corner of the table to see if it is in any way unstable, then lie on the table and rock the table side to side, then forwards and backwards. If you hear any weird noises or feel that the table is unstable, this is exactly what your client will hear and feel. So you better tell the salesperson that there is something wrong.
