Matthew Williamson - H&M

Veronica: Matthew Williamson is bringing the sun to H&M the Spring and Summer season. Hi! I am Veronica with WatchMojo.com, and today we are taking a look at this latest collaboration. So H&M is no stranger working with high-end designers. Can you tell us about your latest collaboration? Emily Scarlett: Our latest collaboration is with Matthew Williamson and it's for our Spring and Summer Collection, so it will actually be a two-part collection. This is the first part that you see here behind us, and it's more exclusive collection, which will only be in about 200 stores worldwide. And then the part two collection, it's a much more democratic collection, so you'll see it in about 1,600 stores worldwide. Veronica: Do you have to convince these designers to work with you, or are they very eager too? Emily Scarlett: Most of the time we have kind of our heart set on somebody and so we approach them sort of from a business end. Like Matthew Williamson, we approached his business partner and CEO first and foremost, and we arranged a meeting with Matthew. It was kind of like a love at first sight thing. From there we knew it was a perfect fit, and we started going into talks more detailed about what the collection would be about, and that's when we came out with the decision to make it into a part two collection, and also that he would design man's wear for the very first time. Veronica: Can you tell us more about this British designer for those who don't really know about Matthew? Emily Scarlett: Matthew Williamson is an iconic British designer. He really, really loves bright colors, beautiful pattens and prints. Really likes to mix sort of ethnic flavors and vibes, and put them into color combinations that are really unexpected. He has had his own label since 1997. He was also the Creative Director of Emilio Pucci for quite sometime, but has now since returned to focusing on his own label, as well as doing this collection with H&M, so we are really, really pleased to have him with us. Veronica: Matthew Williamson is known for his bright colors and love of bold patterns. Is this a look that everything can pull off? Emily Scarlett: I think for spring and summer, it absolutely is a look that everyone can pull off. It's really a lifestyle collection about having fun and feeling great and being vibrant, and I think after a long hard winter it's great to put on some color and have a great time. Veronica: Can you tell us more about the items that we have behind us here? Emily Scarlett: We have the ruffled gown, which is the highlight of the collection. It's actually an exact replica of one of the dresses that he made in one of his previous own collection. So it's quite well reasonably priced, at only $349. We also have a great leather jacket, it has amazing zipper detail, and incredible blue suit, has great tailoring, both in the jacket as well as in the pant. Beautiful silk pieces, something that really is something for everybody Veronica: So does H&M have any plans for future collaborations? Emily Scarlett: I am sure you'll see something in the future.
