Donna: I am Donna from New York, and I am in menopause, and I don't want to have any more children. Do I still need to worry about birth control?

Shona Murray: Donna when you are in the menopause and you are clearly menopause you are really not at risk for pregnancy. However the first year so after going in the menopause sometimes the ovaries can turn back on. So it kind of depends how old you are. If you are well into your 60s I think you are pretty safe from a pregnancy point of view. If you are about 45, or 50 there still a chance that ovaries could turn back on and you could get pregnant. So you want to protect yourself. The other thing is that at any age you can be susceptible to sexually transmitted disease. So you need to protect yourself from that.
