Hey, this is Chris Garr’s Squiggle and I am here to teach some guitars.
I do not feel that great, I had a rough night. So, if I get up and leave, that means I probably threw up. But now, you understand why. I wish I would have remembered that I was supposed to do this. But I get paid with an amount of money, so let us get to it like I am excited about it.
I want to talk about gear first. I love the Gibson Explorers. I play all kinds of Gibson guitars. I love Gibson’s and I also have the EMG from the 81’s and the 85’s. I love that, I use the light top and heavy bottom strings. It tends to fit on the bottom.
I also use some line-six stuff. I love the Podex T, I love the pedals and all that stuff. Also, the pedals that I love is the Dunlop’s scribe. It is the time back pedals and mixer stuff. I also love the crinkents. I love all that stuff.
So, now that you know all the gears that I use, I was going to tell you how to play the guitar for the coffee jingles of the music. So, here goes a bunch of fun and get ready to have to play the guitar.
Basically, this is the drop D tuning, which is rare for me because I usually drop to the lower C. So, we in the drop D tuning, what it means is it is a little deep, everything else is pretty the same. So, let us pull up to the 17th fret. (Demonstration) That is the first part. There you go.
I am going to switch picking that stuff. (Demonstration) Sweep with your pick up. That is the first part of the thing. It keeps on going (Demonstration) and that is a D, the earliest thing that I am told. You set modes for this guitar. (Demonstration) That is a C-major. (Demonstration) That sounds pretty good to me. Sweep it. Sweep it properly please. (Demonstration) Thank you.
And then, pretty much cool off down, up, up (Demonstration). Just drag your pick around from the opposite direction. It is pretty clean-sounding, but some people come up to me and say, “Hey, Squeeze Guard, I am pretty good at sweep up as you! Check this out. Hey, I am good.” But the truth is no, you are not. You are a liar. Go home, take a shower, and was the shames off of you because you suck and you cannot do it anyway.
Where were we? Let us have some more fun with music. (Demonstration)
Here we go, just a little pimping (Demonstration) and then we have we have a D-Dorian. (Demonstration) At that time, I just pick it, but I think when I play that live, it pulls off (Demonstration) but it sounds better if you pick it because it sounds cool. Pick it; pick it out, alternate picking. (Demonstration) Want that faster? You know it.
And also, sometimes people are sloppy when they play. You got to practice that stuff. (Demonstration) You can do this if you try hard enough. You are a champion! You are at the top of the mountain!
Seriously, you only cheat yourself if you cut corners with crappy guitar playing. You know it. Here we go. This is what we have so far. (Demonstration)
And then, we go back to the top. You already know this part; you are on the way home! (Demonstration) And then, we go to this part, because I have some different chords going down. (Demonstration) Sounds good! It sounded good! And then, there is the last part right here. (Demonstration) You know it! That is it!
Now, you know it. So, go back, practice it, rewind it, check it our a few times. I am going to go throw up, go to sleep, and start the old drinking things all over again. But remember, you got to play the guitar in order to make it sound—you have to make until the strings cut up. Play something with your fingers! See you later, pals! Goodbye.
